| Rufster's Full Review: Secure Shred Shredder |
I've owned this shredder for almost a good three years now and lets just say it has gotten the job done and that it is still sitting in the corner of my room begging for more. Sure I've overloaded, jammed, slammed, and toyed with it but it still shows me the same compassion that it has the first day I've been the proud owner.
Overview
Lets take a look at the shredder itself, the entire unit is about twelve inches wide with an adjustable arm that can extend about four inches. Due do that fact, it can work with pretty much any medium sized waste container.
On the top of the unit you'll find an "Overload" light, information labels, and the almighty switch that allows you to select one of three functions. What are the functions you ask? Well lets see, you can shred a piece of paper forwards then take the poor thing backwards or if you're lazy like me there is also an automatic function that'll pretty much take care of anything.
Specifications
The shredder itself is rather simple, you've got the shredder unit and the AC adapter cord. Plug the AC adapter cord into the wall and the shredder and you're ready to be paper's worst nightmare.
The capacity of the shredder is noted at five sheets. Now of course I had to go beyond that a few times for fun and I've learned that you are able to fit about eight sheets with no problem. Doing eight sheets at a time may be harder on the shredder, but if mine is still kicking at top notch after three years, you should be good.
As I have said before, the unit is about twelve inches wide with about a four inch adjustable arm. Not the biggest rig around so it should do the job and save a little space while at it.
The weight of the shredder is about what you would think, not so heavy that you can't carry with only one hand, but not light enough that you could throw a touchdown pass with it.
Performance
This shredder is fast, a single normal sheet of paper will only take a couple of seconds to complete. More sheets will tack of a few seconds but still won't keep you from taking a lunch break.
This shredder also takes care of staples without any hesitation... but do NOT try to shove in a sheet with a paperclip - it's not the Hulk.
Overall I'm impressed with the performance. It doesn't jam unless I try to shove in over ten sheets of paper either.
Complaints
As you have seen in my Cons section there is something about the AC adapter connector falling out. If you have it in an odd location, the AC adapter port is in one heck of an annoying place. Keep this in mind if when deciding where you are going to place the shredder.
Also, I have jammed my shredder quite a few times. Once it is jammed, it takes an incredible amount of time to free whatever is stuck due to the fact that the slot is so small. To avoid this, don't go Rambo with your paper, just five at a time... or splurge with eight... just don't try fifteen or something.
Conclusion
What I have on my hands is one heck of a decent and reliable shredder, something that I recommend to almost every home and small office who wishes not to throw their porno... wait... confidential documents in the normal trash. Simply put it gets the job done... easily, with no hassle.
