tchoate's Full Review: No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems by Kenny Chesney
I have always been a big fan of country music. I have not always been a big fan of Kenny Chesney as he seems just a little to pop country for me. I did buy his latest CD, No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems for my oldest son, but after listening to this cd decided to keep it for myself. I have to say I surprised by some of the wonderful music that I found on this cd.
No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems is the latest cd from Kenny Chesney, who seems to be as hot as they come in country music right now. You can’t turn on a country radio station without hearing something being played that Kenny Chesney's singing. As I said I really purchased this cd for my oldest son, but after listening to it decided that I would keep it for myself. Let me tell you about the songs and the reason I chose to keep this for cd for myself.
Tracks
1. Young was the first single released from this cd. It is up tempo and tells all about what most of us did as teenagers. The fun we had, how we thought we knew everything, this song puts all of that into words. This is a great song that brought back all of the memories of being “Young”.
2. I Remember is a song about remembering a lost love and the regrets felt about not trying hard enough. This is a slower song with some wonderful piano and guitar playing.
3. A Lot Of Things Different is another song about regrets. We all have done things we regretted and wished we could go back and change them. This song will remind you of those things. You will hear Kenny speak and sing in this song written by Bill Anderson and Dean Dillon.
4. The Good Stuff is the best song on this cd. It is currently #2 on the Billboard Single Country Charts and has held that spot for 7 weeks. This song is the reason I bought this album and ended up being most of the reason I kept it for myself. To really enjoy this song you have to sit and listen carefully to the words. This song is about going to a bar and instead of ordering a drink the bartender gives him a glass of milk and tells him about the “Good Stuff”.
5. Big Star is a song about dreams and not giving up on them. This is one of those songs that tells you to go for it and never, ever give up!!
6. On The Coast Of Somewhere Beautiful is a wonderful song about lost love and how you know they are somewhere beautiful with a piece of your heart. This is a wonderful song that you will want to hear more than once.
7. Never Gonna Feel Like That Again is another song that each and every one of us can associate with. Kenny tells that it reminds him of Friday night football and all the guys he played with and realizing when the game is over that this is your last game together as a team.
8. Dream is a song about how each of us needs someone to lean on and to share our life with. This song was written by Kenny Chesney and Skip Ewing, with Kenny’s mom being the inspiration after calling Kenny when she and her boyfriend broke up.
9. No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem has a wonderful musical sound which I would refer to as a Caribbean sound. It is a fun song about a day to do whatever you want to do.
10. Live These Songs is a song that is definitely more rock than country. This song is just a great song to listen to when riding in the truck with your friends. Not one of my favorites on the cd, but is seems to go with well with the theme of the cd.
11. One Step Up was written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen. This song seems to say that nothing is so perfect that it can’t fall apart.
12. I Can’t Go There is the last song on this cd. This song was also written by Kenny Chesney and Skip Ewing. This song is all acoustic and seems to showcase Kenny’s voice very well. The song is about a man who just can’t go back to all the places he used to go because of all the memories of an ex-love.
So there you have it my reasons for not giving this cd to my oldest son, the twelve songs listed above. I didn’t like each and every song, but everyone will like the majority of the songs on this cd. If you enjoy country music you will enjoy No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems.
