twenty3skidoo's Full Review: Kolcraft Jeep Cheroke 55120 Standard Stroller
If you are looking for a stroller that can take you anywhere from the mall with a 2-month-old to the park with a toddler, this stroller is the one!
The Jeep Cherokee Lightweight stroller has everything a baby (or a mommy for that matter) could want in a vehicle...
1. A Smooth Ride- This stroller actually has shocks! And believe it or not, they really work. I had my baby just before Christmas, and my family got me this wonderful stroller as a present. The kids (and by kids I mean my father and brother-in-law) spent a good portion of Christmas morning experimenting to see how many shoes, boxes, etc. could be navigated over by this stroller. Thanks to the shocks and a great set of wheels, this baby runs over footwear, virtually undeterred, with the best of them. Speaking of wheels, this stroller really does have a very functional set. They are 8 inches in diameter, with nice deep tread that increases the life and traction that you get out of them. This stroller is also very easy to steer. You can get through even the twistiest obstacle course of clothing racks in the mall effortlessly. It changes direction much more easily than any other stroller I have ever pushed, and the wheels do not "stick". The shocks, in addition to making a fun afternoon for the boys, also make a nice afternoon for you, because if you are pushing a sleeping baby, they really do make the bumps in the road less noticeable. And a peacefully sleeping baby means a happy mommy.
2. Storage, Storage, and more Storage- I will give you a quick run down of all the space this stroller comes with. Starting up top, we have a key holder and two grown-up cup holders. On either side of the stroller, there are purse-sized storage bags for toys, or diapers, or wipies, or whatever else you can dream up to put in them. Under the seat there is a laundry-basket-sized storage area that is wonderful for diaper bags, purses, shopping bags, etc. On baby's tray are two cup holders and an area to place small toys or snacks. I think after Autumn gets too big for this stroller (which will be a while yet given its wonderful size range), I might have to keep on brining it shopping with me. It is a lifesaver not to have to carry all those heavy bags in my hands all day long.
3. Style- This stroller just simply looks great. The colors are red and hunter green with tan and yellow accents. The design is very sharp. Also under the style category, I will include the retractable canopy. It pulls out over baby so that she can have some shade, and a 6x10-inch flap that rolls back to reveal... a sunroof. Not only does this cute clear plastic panel attract a lot of awed comments from admiring passers-by, but it also provides you with a nice view of your sleeping/playing/trouble-making little one.
4. Long-Lasting- In addition to its unsurpassed durability (it recently got left in the rain for a whole night in the back of my partner's truck. It "weathered the storm" perfectly, and is no worse for wear), this stroller also grows with your baby. While it only has two positions, reclining and sitting up, the strap adjusts enough to safely secure every child, from the smallest newborn to the most rambunctious 3-year-old. And when baby gets big enough to want it, it comes with a detachable steering wheel with a working squeaker-horn in the middle. You gotta love that.
5. Miscellaneous Good Stuff- This stroller is also very easy to clean. The tray removes effortlessly by way of locking clips on both sides of the strollers, and it is a cinch to wash off. The fabric also wipes off easily, and is water-resistant should you get stuck in the rain for one reason or another. The foot rest is attached securely and is plenty wide enough for an older child, and the seat is very soft and looks very comfortable (although admittedly I have never tried it out). The one-hand fold on the top handle of the stroller makes for easy parking lot dissembly when your hands may be otherwise full. One last note- the "parking brake" on this model is also better than most I've seen. Instead of having a single brake on one side, this stroller has a brake on each back wheel. These brakes lock into spokes on the wheels to provide a very stable stop. I have yet to have this one try to roll or slide away on me.
The only bad thing I have to say about this stroller is that it does take up a lot of space. I have fits trying to get it in and out of my trunk, so if you have a small car, you might want to think twice. Other than finding a place to fit it in our vehicle on trips, this stroller is wonderful. It is definitely the best baby gift I received, because it has lasted so well, and we have gotten so much use out of it. You and your baby will be able to take the world by storm with this adorable stroller. I very highly recommend it.
