42ENGLISH's Full Review: Black & Decker Gizmo GM200 Hand Mixer
I am sure that you all have had occasion when you have been too lazy to get up and assemble your mixer to make a milkshake or have hand beaten your eggs for a cake. I know I have. My mixer is huge and hard to clean also. I have had this Black & Decker Gizmo Twist Mixer since Christmas. It was a gift from my sister. I don’t think I would have gone out and bought this product specifically for myself but it has come in useful for a few things around the kitchen.
The product:
In the box, came the mixer, which is about 7 inches by 5 inches when at a 45-degree angle, a drink mixing attachment, a whisk and a beater. Also enclosed was an AC charger and a wall mountable base. The wall mount is pretty small and fits under one of my cupboards perfectly for easy storage. The attachments also hang on the wall mount so there is no searching for them when it comes time to use it. It wasn’t hard to install, just a couple of screws.
The mixer is blue and white and has rubber grips for easy handing. It has a stainless steel washer where the attachments plug to prevent scratching. It has a two speeds button on the handle and on the back, it has the release button so you can twist it to a full horizontal position for mixing drinks.

My Experience:
This product is just one of a line of B & D Gizmo products. There are also a selection of nifty can openers, a cheese grater and an iron. They are very cute and as their name suggests, they are like the mini-me of the larger version. I don’t think these products were intended for heavy-duty use. They just aren’t powerful enough. This mixer could never replace my large one but it does take care of some things, which makes it useable. It is capable of the following from my experience:
Beating eggs,
Mixing drinks, including milk shakes if the ice cream isn’t rock hard,
Mixing cake and other batters,
Mixing gravies and sauces,
Mixing anything else of a liquid consistency no thicker than a milkshake
I got this as a gift for Christmas and my daughter mounted it. I really didn’t pay much attention to it until I noticed my daughter whipping it out to beat eggs in the morning and she does make a mean milk shake and hot chocolate with it. After that, I started using it myself. It is cordless so it’s easy to handle around the kitchen and easily wipes clean. I use it mainly for pancake batter and cake mixes. I also use it to make a smooth gravy once in a while. My daughter uses it much more. The attachments are as sturdy as those of a large mixer and are dishwasher safe.
Unfortunately, the battery life is short so if you are planning to use it for a prolonged period, forget it. I charge it after every use so that I know I have some power the next time I go to use it. I would say it lasts through a milk shake and a cake batter before it fizzles out. The twist feature is a plus when mixing a drink in a glass. It just turns to a horizontal position for better maneuverability.
Conclusion:
The Black & Decker Gizmo Twist Mixer is a handy cordless mixer that is convenient for mixing some of the simpler liquid ingredients in the kitchen. It could never replace a conventional mixer or mix anything thicker than a milk shake effectively. It is not a must-have but I have found it to be a handy gadget at times, which has saved me the hassle of having to assemble my big one.
The battery life is disappointing though and is the reason why this product only gets three stars from me.
