The problem with machines is that people say they make your life easier. Sometimes that is true, you don't have to repeat highly repetitive tasks over and over again. The consequence is that you end up working more, as there are other things to do during the course of a day besides faxing and copying.
note: this epinion is about the KX-FP250, the closest category is the KX-FP101 (FP250 has slighly more features, and similar picture as the FP101).
This fax machine is packed with features, and makes a great addition to one's busy office. The KX-FP250 is a slighly more expensive machine than the KX-FP101, and is worth it if one could use the features. The difference between the two models is that the FP250 has a speaker phone, and 110 number autodialer. The FP101 on the otherhand features only a 54 number autodialer, and no speakerphone. The FP250 is also Energy Star compliant, idling where necessary to save electricity.
The KX-FP250 uses plain paper, and holds about a half inch supply of paper in the holder. Say goodbuy to curly thermal paper, and the odd rolls of paper with the funny chalky surface.
Copying documents was a snap. All one had to do was to press the green copy button, insert the document, and after a minute, the copy is made. One could also make up to 99 multiples of the same document image, and can also enlarge and reduce the image size. The only downside to the copier function is you need to use a large enough flat sheeted paper as the master. Anything smaller, bulkier, or even curled, can jam the machine. Copying quality was good, the contrast was a bit higher than normal.
Faxing documents was also easy. If you had a number memorized in the fax, you could dial it up using the rotary speed dial. After you find the number, you just press fax, and be done with it. The small lcd display informs you of any errors that may occur during transmission. Faxing speed is normal. Receiving speed was also ok. Among the FP250 many features is that this machine can page you should you receive a fax.
The KX-FP250 features a speakerphone for hands free listening and speaking use. The phone handset sounded clean and clear. For those who need to fax a lot, and are on the phone a lot, the KX-FP250 comes highly recommended.
