Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
Up till now, he has fought their past, and he has fought their future, now he must fight the ultimate vampire in order to bring an end to it all. Blade is back to kick some more tail, as Wesley Snipes takes on the role for the third time. Some hope that this is his last-go-round, but I think if a good enough script comes along that he should give it another look. Originally, I was a big fan of the Blade franchise, and really enjoyed the first installment. That made me watch the second one, and eventually rent this third one. But, slowly the franchise has lost a lot of the luster that made helped it make it to part three. Blade himself is half-human / half-vampire, which gives him the benefits of both worlds. He is able to walk in the sun, but has the strengths and instincts that help vampires so much. He has taken on the life-long quest of ridding the world from vampires, and is latest fight is going to be his toughest one yet.
For Blade : Trinity, the creators thought that it was about time to bring a little youth to the screen with Wesley Snipes, and tapped Jessica Beil and Ryan Reynolds to play two members of the "Nightstalkers." This group of younger crime fighters, has also taken on the pledge to rid the world of vampires and everyone who would help them. Beil actually plays the daughter of another character named Whistler. Whistler (played by Kris Kristofferson) has been in all three of the movies, but each one ends up destroying more of his body, leaving him incapable of helping Blade in his latest fight. Enter Beil and Reynolds. Beil brings beauty to the surroundings and does great in her role as a take no prisoners female. Reynolds on the other hand, is what makes this movie watchable in the less interesting parts thanks to his great wit, and just how well he can turn a phrase in the movie.
With two new helpers by his side, Blade must fight two battles at the same time. For the first time in the series, the police force decides that the vigilante justice isn't going to fly anymore, so as Blade chases his vampires, the FBI is chasing him. This soon becomes an unnecessary story though, because it was uninteresting to see the FBI agents befuddled at exactly what was going on. They also weren't cast well, so they seemed unintelligent, uninspired, and really didn't seem like they should be working for the Government in the first place. All it serves the movie, is as a way to confuse the action, and to switch from one scene to the next. Even the action sequences that bring in the FBI fall flat, because it just cannot stand up to the high-flying antics that Blade himself participates in.
One would hope that by the end of this film, that it would appear that the story was wrapping itself up, as with many other films that are part of a trilogy. Don't get too discouraged it you find the ending a little too convenient, or if you find yourself scratching your head about what the sub-plots of the film develop into. This is definitely a comic book movie, and there are a lot of people who just wouldn't find this one very interesting. Wesley Snipes, is of course, hi "cool" self as the vampire hunter again. He pulls off the role as good as he has, but there just isn't much for him to work with. It seemed that he could have not even been in the movie, and that the supporting vampire fighting characters could have done the film themselves. Knowing what to expect going in, this is a watchable film, and I recommend it to people who like the genre, or especially if you are a Ryan Reynolds fan. Other than that, it is one worth renting, but not one worth putting in your collection.
