Signs is a movie about a family that lives on a farm in Buck County in Philadephia. The farm has an old days feeling, being surrounded by cornfields and being a rural county it is just the place for this type of movie.

The opening scenes take us to the farm of Graham Hess( Mel Gibson). a Ex Priest who has lost his faith in God after the death of his wife Colleen ( Patricia Kalember) six months earlier. Graham is the father of two children. A daughter Bo ( Abigail Breslin ) who never finishes a glass of water, saying there is something wrong with it and it doesn't taste right. A son Morgan ( Rory Culkin ) who believes there are aliens among us. Also living with the family is his younger brother Merill ( Joaquin Phoenix )a ex minor leaque baseball player who thinks the future holds nothing for him.

Graham awakes and finds his children gone. Leaving the house he meets Merill outside. They hear Bo in the cornfield and they rush into the field and soon find her just standing there asking "are you in my dream too?" They then find Morgan also and he points ahead of them and Graham finds something has flattened parts of his cornfield into many circles and symbols.

Graham thinks it is a prank, done by some local boys, but after making a call he soon finds that he was wrong. He then calls the police. Police officer Paski ) Cherry Jones ) comes out to investigate and she and Graham are both confused by the signs made. It had been done perfect without breaking any of the corn. Paski then tells him of some strange things that have been going on.

Meanwhile Morgan and Bo are with one of the the family dogs. Bo starts to give the dog water and the dog tries to attack her. Morgan then kills the dog and Graham and Paski find him by the dog crying. Graham tells them to tie the remaining dog up.

Nightfall brings Bo waking her dad saying " There's a monster outside my room. " After getting Bo her fresh glass of water Graham is in the children's bedroom when he sees something on the roof outside the window. He wakes Merill and they run outside all around the house yelling. They keep hearing noises on the roof and other places, but never really see anything.

Taking the advise of officer Paski Graham takes the family into town. He is called Father and asked to listen to confession after telling them he has left the church and is no longer a Father. Graham for this reason spends most of his time at the farm with his family. After returning home from town They start hearing sounds coming from Bo's baby monitor. morgan insist it is aliens talking to each other in code.

That night Graham goes out to water the dog and she is barking and she jumps the chain at him. He takes a flashlight and goes into the cornfield, looking around he hears strange sounds and drops his flashlight,after picking it up he hits on it and when it comes back on he sees what appears to be a leg step back into the corn. Graham being spooked runs back to the farmhouse and he decides they should watch tv. They are shocked by the signs they see and the lights in the sky in Mexico City. This starts happening world wide. While holding the sleeping children Graham and Merill talk about miracles. Graham tells Merill about his wife's last words, that she said " see and then Tell merill to swing away." He then tells him there is no one looking out for us, we are all on our own.

After getting a distrubing call Graham thinks it is Ray and heads out to his home to check on him. Graham gets there to find Ray packed and ready to leave. They talk and then Ray tells him not to open his pantery because he found one of them inside and locked it in there. Graham soon finds out the truth about the aliens after cutting a couple of fingers off the alien with a knife under the pantery door.

One hilarious scene that really made me laugh was when Graham come back home from Ray's to find the children and Merill sitting on the couch wearing alumimun foil hats so the aliens won't be able to know their secret thoughts. Graham and Merill start to board up the house believing that there really are hostile aliens outside that intend to invade and attack and destory mankind.

While being trapped in the basement Morgan having asthma has an attack not having his medication,as Graham holds his son talking him through this attack we see a man filled with amazing anger,and sadness blaming God for the death of his wife.

The morning brings us to the ending of this movie. Will the family survive? Will the broken parts of this family be mended? Will Graham get his faith in God back? You will have to watch the movie to see.

Another Shyamalon film as with Six Sense and Unbreakable. Signs is a thrilling science fiction movie and of course I have to have the movie.
