I was a little irritated because the preview makes the movie seem like it is all about Minnie Driver's struggle, when really, the movie is all about David Duchovny's character. I hate misleading previews. Even if the movie turns out to be good anyway, I'm still left with an irritable, lied to feeling.
The other problem with the movie is that the movie is at least half way over before Minnie and David even meet, and then they skim through the falling in love bit, and the problem is solved just a bit too quickly. The background stuff about his wife dying and Minnie's character finally getting a new heart is touching stuff, and does add to the film. But unfortunately, we don't have time for all that in a two hour film. They spent all that time on background and then zipped us through the rest of the film, cheating us out of a full understanding of the love story.
However... There were some screamingly funny moments in this movie, and some real heart-wrenching ones.
It is worth seeing, just not exactly what it is sold as.
