ritag11's Full Review: Barney - Live In New York City
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
I cannot tell you how old this video is, but it was given to us by our neighbors after their kids outgrew the Barney stage. (Copyright is 1994) I know my kids have been watching it on a regular basis for over a year. Barney is not my favorite character, but my kids love him. The big purple guy just gets on my nerves and haunts me for days. I can hear it in my sleep. I try to be a nice Mommy and indulge my kids in their favorite fantasy land a few times each week. They are always learning new songs and character lessons too. At our house, the baby (7 months) watches just as much as the 2 & 5 year olds. Oh well!!! It certainly isn't hurting them to learn some good songs and be entertained!!
Barney Live! in New York is performed in Radio City Music Hall. The show opens with a greeting from each performer and Barney says "Hello" to everyone. Barney is joined by Baby Bop and BJ and his "real" friends: Shawn, Derek, Tosha, Kathy, Min, Julie, Carlos, and Kelly.

During the live performance, the Winkster takes the Barney Bag and teases the group several times. They all try to catch him to find out the surprise hidden inside. A marching band pays a visit along with clowns and an elephant too. The mixture of real children and dressed up characters is a nice blend for toddlers and preschoolers.
The video is 75 minutes in length. It is sure to entertain your Barney loving child. Recommended ages 1-8. Most of the songs appear on other videos, but it is a nice video to add to your collection. The "Live" effects are nice and they do show a lot of the audience dancing and singing along. If you have a Barney lover in your home, I do recommend it.
I would guess by participation at home, my 2 year old son loves to sing along with "If All the Raindrops", his favorite. My 5 year old daughter can be caught singing most all of the songs. The 7 month old will watch the action and colors off and on throughout the entire video.
