Ok, so iv'e heard more than one person say 'Ohhh girls cant play punk'....hahahahaha well they sure as hell havent listened to Bikini Kill then...
This album, the first and the best...its raw, energetic and pi**es all over men...in a good way. Its not whiney feminist music ... its angry Riot Grrl music. It doesnt b!tch and moan about womens rights..it simply points out that women are treated differentlly by men.... it screams it and it tells you how it is. Kathleen Hanna simply tells you how it is. She justifies what she says....The band are politically motivated and no what there talking about.
The album is what i would call Punk Rock....reall punk rock but it mixes punk with other music. through out the album there is an 'alternative' streak... its more than punk...its beter than that.
This is one of the most influencial albums ive ever listend too....i suggest if you like punk then you should buy it...not just grrls but Bois too. Ian McKaye helped produce this album and if you ask me Ian Mckaye is one of the most influencial musicians, along with Kathleen Hanna so together there pretty darn special!
Spice Girls claim to have girl power....they dont.....this is girl power..... BIKINI KILL!!!
