| leakproofblur's Full Review: Start Static by Sugarcult |
Start Static is going to be big. Sugarcult haven't really been noticed until recently on the Van Wilder's soundtrack and a couple other movies. The CD itself is good, just good. I'm a big fan of Sugarcult's but i can admit that it lacks a little depth, unless its the last track, "I Changed My Name" or "Lost in You" The hidden track is a total surprise and very different. It won't be a hit with the whole croud, but it definitely has a little extra something to it.
"Stuck in America" is a song most kids can relate to and "Bouncing off the Walls" is just catchy. My favorite song has always been "Pretty Girl" and now that its been release on to MTV and on radio stations everywhere, its the song thats obviously making them big.
The only song I can't stand on the entire track is "Daddy's Little Defect", it sounds too familular, like and old Beach Boys song or something of the sort only in a different time period.
Overall, Start Static is a good listen despite that fact it could use a little bit of UMMF in the lyricals section.
