catboy2000's Full Review: Reader's Digest Magazine
Personally, I don't think that reader's digest is worth the money that you pay for it. While some people enjoy the heartwarming stories, I personally find myself a little sickened by most of them; I mean, how real-world is this magazine? I think it is more suited to where it is most often found: in your grandmother's bathroom or in the dentist's office.
While it does have some attempts to liven the magazine a little (Laughter: The Best Medicine,) it fails to live up to having any type of entertaining value. (The jokes are old and stale, and have usually been circulated through email for months before.) Although their mission is apparently to publish the stories of their readers, this magazine falls short on the subject of quality in all literary aspects. If you need something to read while sitting on the toilet at your grandmother's, then this would be fine, but if you are looking for literary content or to be entertained, go to the bookstore or buy a subscription to TIME.
