After 10 years of publishing, I'd have to say Franco has found the meaning of Curve. Her magazine is the epitome of the phrase "stacked with class."
An accomplished editor, Frances Stevens, and her crew weed through the trite and trivial, bringing home content in a glossy publication that is thoughtful, concise, and interspersed with shapely eye-candy draped in the latest fashions.
Curve magazine is one of the first in its genre that I read occasionally when a friend of mine was still hanging around in the closet. Now, she has it delivered to her doorstep where a rainbow windsock gracefully adorns the front porch. I can attest to the fact that Curve helped her come out and be proud of her culture at a time when she was hesitant about standing up for her beliefs.
Curve not only features succinct cover stories on famous lesbians in various positions around the world (no pun intended), but also delivers a fresh approach on politics, legal issues, and sports among other topics of interest. After reading the features, I would read through the travel features (daydreaming of vacation spots and far away expeditions), and heartily laugh at the advice 'Fairy Butch' dished out to confused sistahs.
I have always enjoyed debating hot topics and Curve presents some of the most controversial topics about LGBTs in an objective manner. Since it's printed bi-monthly, the articles are often timely.
As a straight-but-not-narrow woman, I highly recommend this San Francisco based magazine to anyone who wants to find out what makes lesbians tick. Curve has its finger on the pulse of an intricate, fascinating culture.
