There are several appliances in my kitchen that I just can not do with out! There is the coffeemaker, crockpot, Portable grill, microwave and the Black and Decker toaster oven. This appliance is my best friend. The one I use more than any other. I often wonder how people get along without one!
We have so little time these days, with careers, family and hobbies. What is important to me, is the amount of time I can save by preparing great meals. There are just some things that are not meant to be cooked in a microwave. Yet, I just do not want to turn on that huge oven to prepare something small. This toaster oven can aid in preparing these meals with ease. If you too, have a small family this may be the perfect solution. I have found that I can prepare the same great recipes with ease using this toaster oven.
WHAT IS IT?
The Black and Decker toaster oven is more than just a means to prepare toast! It is a broiler and small oven as well! With this toaster oven you can prepare a steak and pork chops. You can grill fish and heat leftovers. You can prepare appetizers such as chicken nuggets, cheese sticks and fried mushrooms. Bacon is excellent cooked as well. I have found that it comes out flat and with a Special broiler pan, the grease drips away leaving the bacon crispy and well cooked. Meatballs are great prepared on the broiler pan as well. Want something a little fancier, no problem. How about bacon wrapped scallops? They are wonderful for a small party! Any of these dishes can be prepared in this oven with ease and very little clean up! Yes, that is another great feature of this oven. Just a small pan to clean, rather than the big bulky ones used in a regular oven.
FEATURES
The Black and Decker Toaster oven that I use is a basic one. It has a heating adjustment for the broiler, bake feature. This oven also has an adjustment for toasting bread as well. I have found that you should work with this feature to find the best setting, it may take a couple trys to get it right! It also has a timer for the toasting feature. It has a tempered glass window great for viewing your "work in progress". It is also mountable for under the counter convenience. This requires an additional purchase however. The Black and Decker toaster oven is very light weight. Weighing in at around 8 pounds it can be moved for cleaning. When it comes time to clean this machine you will enjoy the crumb tray that is located of course, on the bottom. You have to look for it, but you will find that you can open the bottom and just wipe away all of those crumbs!
OTHER INFORMATION
The price is right for this toaster oven! I have spotted them for as little as $20.00 and as high as $35.00. The toaster oven that I have is over 5 years old and works like a charm! They will begin to show wear and tear quickly if you do not clean it properly. I clean the glass and entire casing of my oven after every use to add life. A word of warning, this machine gets Hot. It is not a good idea to use the top of the machine as a storage shelf. Anything that can melt on the top will! I learned that the hard way, with a bread wrapper that was sitting there! It took a LONG time to get that off of there. Those dots on that bag of wonder bread do not look better on the top of my toaster oven!
OVERALL
This machine is a great value. Again, it will save time and help on the electricity bill. It is wonderful for a small family or heating things that just do not come out right in the microwave. It is a great gift idea for someone getting married, going away to college,for their office or getting their first place. Try it you will like it!
