Anybody considering using this company should do their homework - especially concerning the owner and his reputation. Before operating under the name of MoveAmerica - Mr. Grad was owner of EZ-Move, Inc. -- another self service moving operation -- which quickly closed it's doors and went into bankruptcy protection - as the creditors were quickly closing in on the company and the Better Business Bureau had a complaint history longer than the wingspan of a B-52 bomber. (This can be verified by looking up US Bankruptcy Courts in Alexandria, VA on the search function of your browser. Then using the search function - type in Howard Grad or EZ-Move)
MoveAmerica was quickly started by Mr. Grad and his business practices have not changed. I was considering using this company until I did my homework and found out that my gut instinct was correct. Whenever questions were asked (after numerous unsuccessful attempts to reach them on the phone)- the answers we received were never complete or hones. Mr. Grad wanted full payment of the shipment prior to services being rendered and there was a large amount of pressure to quickly fax the signed contract and credit card authorization to his office. Whenever questions were asked about specific points of the contract, we were given rude and abrupt answers and told that everything was legit. When we asked for certain verbal guarantees to be put in writing, the conversation became shorter and shorter.
With an uneasy feeling, I made calls and did my Internet homework, only to find that our feelings were correct. I would not trust this company and after reading the reviews on Epinions.com - we were right to choose another reliable self service moving company who were easy to talk to, took the time to explain all details and even let us pay after the trailer was underway. No pressures - No headaches- No bad gut feelings.
