Pros: None
Cons: Poor customer service, unreliable delivery, excessive damages, the list goes on and on
The Bottom Line: This is the worst-run organization I've ever had to deal with. I've always been one to give the benefit of the doubt and not hold grudges, but Bekins is terrible.

| karma95's Full Review: Bekins Van Lines |
I've moved over 10 times in the past 12 years so I've used quite a few moving companies. One of those moves was from San Francisco to Boston. When I originally moved from Boston to San Francisco, I used Atlas Movers and had a terrific experience, my furniture arrived in just 8 days.
For my relocation back to Boston, I contacted 3 or 4 moving companies to bid on the job and Bekins came out cheapest. I'd seen there trucks on the road so I assumed that they must be good. BIG MISTAKE!!!!
The problems began from the get-go:
1 - They were scheduled to arrive on a Tuesday to pick up the furniture. However, they called on Monday and said they'd be arriving within the hour to pick up my stuff. That left me with an hour to finish packing last minute stuff (stereo, toiletries, sheets, etc...).
2 - They told me the delivery to Boston should be within 10-15 days, but they always hold that "slight chance" it could take up to 20 days. Well, when all was said and done, I was without my furniture for over a month. To top it off, it was around the holidays so I had no furniture on Thanksgiving and it arrived just before Christmas.
3 - Customer service didn't exist. They gave me an 800# to call for updated, but nobody answered that line, day or night. It would ring, get picked up by an automated voice and then I'd be on hold for 45 minutes at a time before giving up. The few times I was able to speak with somebody, the person was rude, and blatantly lied. For example, for some strange reason, my furniture ended up going from San Francisco to Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, New Jersey, Connecticut and then Boston (not the most direct route). One day I was told the furniture was in New Jersey and would be in Boston the next day, I took the day off from work (at a new job, I might add) and it never showed. I called, but got no answer. When I was finally able to reach somebody, I was told my furniture was in Georgia and never was in New Jersey.
4 - When the furniture arrived, I had over $2,000 in damages and one item missing. The missing item was a 6'*7' black wooden screen...don't know how you can miss that. Anyway, they gave me contact information for making claims.
5 - The customer service there was even worse. I would get voice-mail and no return calls. Then they gave me the run-around (I think hoping I would drop the claim because it was such a hassle). They sent out a representative to view the claim. 3 months later when the claim check arrived, it was only for $700!!!!!! They refused to budge! I wrote letters to every person I could think of (nobody would give me appropriate names) and never heard back. I tried the Better Business Bureau but after a total of 5 months, I couldn't handle it anymore.
