bluedot-79's Full Review: KitchenAid KFP500 Ultra Power 9 Cups Food Processo...
This Kitchen Aid KFP500 Food Processor was something I received as a wedding present over three years ago. My mother has loved Kitchen Aid products for years and bought this for me along with a Kitchen Aid Ultra Power 5-Speed Blender and a Kitchen Aid 4.5 Quart Classic Stand Mixer. It made me happy to have such high quality in my kitchen, and it made my husband happy to have a wife that would cook (and bake)!
The food processor gets used constantly. Its certainly a staple in my kitchen. It will cut your kitchen prep time considerably, so its fantastic for working families or people on the go.
Id say that I use it most for doing simple things like grating cheeses, making salsa, or making chocolate truffles, but this powerful little machine can handle just about anything! (It can even knead dough!)
The Kitchen Aid KFP500 is useful for many of your kitchen needs. Included are the following:
A Heavy Duty Power Base with buttons that will stay clean. The three buttons are one-touch pads for ON/OFF/PULSE. The motor is very quiet, which I really like. The base has an Electronic Processing Sensor, which Kitchen Aid designed to give the user a constant speed every time its used. The base is smooth and rounded and extremely easy to keep clean. However, it is a little bit bulky and takes up a lot of counter space. The base also features a built-in power cord storage.
A Large Bowl has a capacity of 9 cups. It is very easy to clean and to lock into the base for use. It also comes with a unique spatula designed specifically to fit into the edges of the large bowl, which is great for scraping the sides and getting every little bit of food out of the bowl.
A Cover for the large bowl, including a Feed Tube and a Feed Tube Pusher.
A Mini Bowl and a Mini Sabatier Stainless Steel Blade, which are just great for small mixing or chopping jobs because you can keep the large bowl clean. I love this when I have to chop a cup or so of pecans for brownies and other small tasks.
Two discs:
A Reversible Slicing/Shredding Disc which has a sharp slicing blade on one side and shredding blade (2 mm openings) on the other side. This blade is sharp and sturdy. It will cut anything, Ive used it for things from cheeses to firm fruits and vegetables.
A Medium Shredding Disc (4mm openings) for larger shredding. It is helpful if you want to coarsely shred vegetables and fruits that are firmer, but works for cheeses as well.
Two Large-Size Blades:
The Large Sabatier Stainless Steel Blade is the blade that gets the most use in my household. It does practically everything. It will chop, mince, blend, mix, and emulsify in mere seconds. I love this blade.
The Dough Blade is shaped like the regular blade, but is thicker and made of plastic instead of stainless steel. Kitchen Aid specifically designed it for mixing and kneading yeast dough. It works well, but doesnt get much use in my kitchen.
Also included with this purchase, is the instruction manual/recipe guide. It is very handy and has some pretty good recipes included. It will guide you step-by-step (including pictures) for practically everything you might need to use the machine for. Topics Include:

Overall Feelings:
Ease of Use: Good. This machine is extremely easy to use, but if you have any problems, they can be easily addressed by the instruction manual.
Durability: Excellent. Expect to have this machine for a lifetime. It is very well made.
Ease of Cleaning: Very Good. The base is cleaned easily because of the style of buttons. The bowls, lid, pusher, and blades just go straight into my dishwasher.
Ideal for making bread, this food processor combines medium capacity with full-size power and includes a dough blade that mixes and kneads yeast dough...More at YourWarehouseDirect.com
