Pros: Two soak options, super capacity wash, self balancing spin, very durable.
Cons: Buildup of fabric softner in agitator, no mini-wash, sometimes leaks water.
The Bottom Line: This is a great washer, cleans clothes well, reliable, dependable, and great value. I will buy another when/if this one ever dies.

| mwcox's Full Review: General Electric Profile WPSR3100W Washer |
We purchased this washer in 1999 after the transmission failed in our old GE washer. We purchased this washer at a GE store. They convinced us of the extra cost for the Profile series as it has direct drive instead of the normal transmission parts, had a better warranty, and more powerful motor.
In 1999 we had one child and one on the way, so, we knew that we would place a heavy demand on our washer. Well, we now have 3 children under 5, so, needless to say, this washer runs almost daily with heavy (super) loads. This machine has proved to be very durable and dependable as it has never broke.
We are very please with this machine as we can wash everything from sleeping bags to tennis shoes in it and it does an excellent job. The self balancing feature works very well. It uses a fluid in the top of the tub as well as sprays water on the clothes upon spin up to accomplish this.
Only three small complaints. One would be that we get a build up of fabric softner in the softner cup/dispenser and agitator, so, we occasionally have to clean this out. The dispenser cup comes apart easily for this purpose and just snaps back into place. We usually do this when adding more clothes for washing. The other complaint is that we have noticed that if we put too many towels in the machine, which we have been told by the service representative that we overloaded it, upon spinup, the machine will overflow some water through its overflow tube onto the floor. We fill the machine to the top 'hole' in the tub, but, cannot do this with heavy items such as towels. Seems like there should be a fill line. Lastly, we miss the mini wash cycle our other washer had along with the mini wash tub. Don't need this often, but, when we do, we just wait until we have enough for a 'small' load.
We really like the safety features of the washer, especially with kids around. However, some of these have 'gotten' us a few times. One that is frequent for us, is that if you start the washer, it is filling with water as you add clothes, you have the lid open and are distracted, or come back later, the timer continues to run and it will drain and refill and complete cycle without any agitation.
However, these problem are small and pose no real issue.
