Poor customer service and hidden fees and policies

Pros: ATM in all Sheetz stores
Cons: No clear policies, Does not value their customers
The Bottom Line: Opening an account with M&T Bank is a huge risk. Unclear policies means that you will lose money.

M&T Bank appeared that it was going to be the best solution for me. Here I am a few months later and have already lost approx $200 in NSF fees. I dont know if it is an issue of poor customer service or that the customer service reps are trained to give poor information so as to lead you into screwing up your account. My latest (and last) issue with them happened yesterday. After being told a month ago that the first $100 of an ATM deposit is available immediately I had made a deposit on the night of May 9th. On May 10th I logged into online banking (like I do every day) and saw a negative balance. I called customer service and instead of the rep really taking time to understand what the problem was I was told that I was completely wrong and that the $100 is only available for ATM Withdrawls and that it does not cover incoming transactions. In this instance, I lost $64 in NSF fees and there was no option of using my check card but according to them I was able to withdrawl up to $100 out of an ATM. Later that evening I withdrew $60 so that I had money to eat and buy some stuff that I needed to get. This morning I log into online banking and I am again at a negative balance. I called customer service and they told me that the teller that accepted my deposit informed me that I was going to have a hold placed on these funds. The Teller?! I argued that this was an ATM transaction and that I held the recipt in my hand. After over 5 mins of arguing the rep looked at my transaction register for my ATM card and saw the deposit made in an ATM machine. She only told me that she is not sure how that had happened but that I was still responsible. Immediately I asked for a manager and instead of the manager listening to my concerns she only "tore me down to size" so as not to accept any responsibility for any errors. I am now $100 out on this issue alone. This is the third or fourth time I had an issue like this. Primarily one rep will tell you one thing and the next tells you something different. There are no clear policies with M&T Bank and they will cleverly change things just to cost you more money.
