I applied for a Cross Country Bank card to help establish my credit rating. Big Mistake. The "application fee" is astronomical, $100 plus $50 a year for the card. However they will happily charge your card for these amounts at their competitive rate of about 22%. Gee, Thanks guys. If you're a card holder, pray every month that nothing is wrong with your statement because it takes an act of congress to talk to a representative on the phone. They will gladly give you their number, a toll call of course. No 1-800#. After speaking to someone in their company I'd rather pay for their error, unless I could figure out a way to jump through the phone to slap the person on the other end. Whatever you do while being a card holder DO NOT MOVE. Although they will gladly change your billing address if you due to receive a new card from them you must fax them a utility bill with your new address and signature in order for them to believe that you really did move. If your lucky like me you only had to send it 3 times. The first person whom I spoke with was so nice (ha ha) that when I asked her her name at the beginning of the call, I like to talk to people by their name - silly me, she told me phonically Des-er-a. That's nice dear. Now can I talk to a supervisor. Yeah, that might happen. And I'm watching pink elephants fly by windows. She put me hold, came back and said they're all on break. Ok I got it now, they're having a party and she's missing it. Now I know why she's so upset with me for calling.
Don't be late with a payment, Ever!! Drive to Delaware if you must but get them that payment. My last payment was received by them 48 hours late. Sorry, but give me a break it was for the entire balance on my card.....$13.85. Which is now $43.85 because I missed the due date. Because they're such an efficient company they had their computer system call me everyday at 3pm to remind me of my missed payment. I promptly sent them the entire amount and cancelled my card ( I only had to get transferred three times to do that). I guess that only made them mad because even after I cancalled my card their lovely computer kept calling me. After about a week of this I called them, a party waiting to happen. When I finally got to speak to a rep she told me their was nothing they could do about the phone calls until my payment was posted through them and entered into their system. Three days, and three phone calls later, I hit my limit of niceness, although I'm still not sure how I lasted that long. I finally called and informed a supervisor that their phone call were being made to me in the state of Georgia where it is illegal to make unsolicited phone calls and I would be happy to sue them for harassment should their computer call me again. Amazing how fast they figured out how to have their computer not call me anymore. But never fail, I'm still getting letters telling me that if I would like to reinstate my charging privileges I should send them the $13.85. HELLO, Is there anyone there with half a clue, my acct. is paid and closed.
