| 2of4's Full Review: Konica Minolta Freedom Zoom 140EX 35mm Film Camera |
When I first saw a set of pictures taken with the Minolta Freedom Zoom 140EX, I knew I was in love. I am not a camera expert but I do know that the sharp, clear pictures I saw were just what I wanted from a camera. Then, I just happened to glance at the price. This was a couple of years ago and the camera was over $500. That put a slight damper on my enthusiasm, to say the least. I'm a patient man, though, and vowed to wait until the price eased-up a bit. Well, here I am two years later and I finally was able to win an Ebay auction and get one for a little over a hundred dollars. Patience pays off!
This is a great point and shoot camera with many great features. The Freedom Zoom 140EX runs on two 3-volt lithium batteries, has a LCD display, 660 step autofocus, red-eye reduction, a zoom lens that adjusts for great wide-angle shots (38-140mm f/3.5-9.4 power zoom lens), macro mode for shots of small objects close and at a distance, auto-portrait zoom and a flash that produces great night portraits. There is also a data back that allows the photographer to imprint date or time onto the film. An optional remote control is also available with the camera.
The only possible problem with the camera (and it's not a problem to me!) is its weight. It weighs a little over 11 ounces and is considerably heavier than comparable models. Some users might find this a little uncomfortable while shooting but the excellent picture quality more than makes up for this small fault.
Although mine is not brand-new, I strongly recommend this camera for anyone who wants sharp, clear pictures from an easy-to-use point and shoot camera. And, the price was right!
