I am a computer engineer trying to find a good solution to my company's virus problems.
I installed Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition recently. I am not gonna compare it to any other product here. I don't think you need to do that at all. I found it so bad that I prefer to go without an Antivirus than have it. There are some things that when I buy a software I take them for granted. I never use any computer product which lacks a good support service, specially if it is gonna be a support product.
I wasted lots of time to find a free support phone number on their web site and was not able to find it. To me, that is something which should be easy to find (if it exist), at least for an Antivirus program.
When you buy an Antivirus program, it means you are getting prepared for a very bad day which you are hoping would never comes. That day I would like to be able to download the latest virus updates as fast as possible. What should I do if internet goes down because of that virus? Looks like that people in Norton do not have a BBS service for that or they are hiding it from users.
Their web site is very hard to browse even though it doesn't have much to offer and after a few minutes you decide to choose random links to find what you are looking for. Even some basic information that now every site is offering, like mentioning the size of a file in the download page (so that you would know how long it would takes) are missing.
I tried to install it on lots of workstation and on each one I got different error messages without any hint about what I should do to solve it.
Now I am very interested to find out how they are able to sell their product. Looks like people just feel secure with buying an antivirus program and they don't care if it is gonna help them or not when they need it.
