I had leased a 1997 Acura Integra GS-R Coupe in the Fall of 1996.
I had always been a fanatic of the 4 cyl. sports cars and after about 4 months of researching and test driving many sports cars, I finally decided on the Acura model. At the time, there were other choices in the Integra model. The GS-R being the higher end. The horse power rating is 170 bhp.
The only transmission available on the GS-R is the 5 speed Transaxle.
I didn't care for the front end looks of the GS-R but that was my personal opinion.
You can drive the car rather easily in any city street but the REAL car comes out when you let the engine rev to the 7000 RPM red line.
The handling is very nimble and crisp. I live in Michigan so we have the 4 seasons in the area. Even in the Winter snow, the car with its front wheel drive drove without any problems.
Out of the 36 months of driving the vehicle, I only had to take the car into the dealer for one problem. The drivers side door upholstering was coming off its seems and the Dealer quickly ordered me another one and installed a new inside paneling.
I am a very hard driver on any vehicle and the GS-R took all the abuse I gave it and it wanted more.
The noise level inside was very good for a sports car. Remember that its not a luxury car!
The ride is very good for a Sports car also. A little stiff for the average drivers out there but this car is not for any regular drivers out there. It demands a driver that will take the car to its limits.
Even at the 140 mph speed limiter, its very smooth and sure footed. I don't condone driving 140 mph but if you had to do it in any small car, this is the car to do it in!
Driving the car in curvy roads is a dream!
There are many aftermarket accessories for the GS-R so you can customize the vehicle to your tastes.
The gas mileage was excellent! 30-35 mpg average on the GS-R
The only people that should buy this vehicle is ones that will use the car for what its meant to be, Performance!!!
