in june of 1987, I had been in a car accident and my 1982 honda accord was totaled. Despite the accident I had been planning to get a smaller car for my needs. all four of my daughters were on their own, and I had been divorced for 3 years. I felt that a full size sedan was too much for me. dont get me wrong I loved my accord, but the insurance rates were high and my mortgage was about 60% of my income. I had also planned on purchasing another honda, seeing how I was more than satisfied with the value my accord provided.

When I went to my dealership, I saw a honda civic hatchback in the showroom and instantly fell in love. It was exactly what i was looking for. The model I chose was the DX hatchback. It was tan with a beige interior. when I bought it it had 42 miles on it, and since then I have put another 450000 on it, which is thee accomplishment for any car. not to shabby if you ask me.

I had mostly used my car as a daily driver/commuter, but use it to take many many road trips all over u.s.a. and even to toronto.

my was and still is extremely reliable, and comfortable.
The exterior has very sophisticated styling, and is not at all an eyesore.the interior had all the features i looked for, and then some. even an abundance of space which is a suprise for a car of civic's size.

But my little car is getting up in years and its declining slowly. its gas mileage is gone from 45 mpg-when new-to 39-mpg. but i still have it serviced every 1000-1500 miles, and the only thing it has had replaced was the cv joints, a hose, and an oil pump. my little car still makes me proud though, its still zippy and the cassette/stereo is clear as a bell, not to mention my ice cold a/c.

I hope to get another year or 50000 miles out of it before its gone, and i WILL be getting another civic, maybe an ex this time. I recommend this car but a newer model because mine is getting on in years. but has never broken down or left me stranded. that is true value-way to go honda!
