Pros: they do good things with their profits, all natural, don't test on animals
Cons: products smelled bad, burned, didn't enhance my skin
The Bottom Line: How is it that you can put together a kit called the Zia Travel Acne Relief and Oily Skin Kit and have not one product that works okay?

I looked over a bunch of reviews on the Zia products and found that people were raving over them. Apparently I missed the boat because I was not thrilled when it came to the Zia Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel Treatment, nor am I ecstatic to bring you the Zia To Go Kit for Acne Relief and Oily Skin. I asked myself, what is it that I am missing that I dont see these products in the same lime light as everyone else. I think I have been slightly spoiled by testing out and using other products that have given me better results, better scents, and basically for half the price. I spent $19.99 on the Zia To Go Kit for Acne Relief and Oily Skin and I was expecting to get the full $19.99 out of it. Obviously this has not been the case. In fact, some of the sample are so small, most of them, that they didnt even show how many fluid ounces the product held. Well it doesnt surprise me after my run in with the Zia Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel and unfortunately I bought these on the same day together so I didnt know what I was getting myself into.
I respect the company and realize that they are bringing you all natural products and that they do not test on animals. What happened to the scent though? Why doesnt anything smell good? If I am going to have a mask on my face for 20 minutes, cant it at least have some sort of distinct nice scent? Is that too much to ask? If I put body moisturizer on my arm, cant it smell at all and if it does with a fragrance that doesnt offend me? The samples, like I said, were so tiny that I cant even tell you how much they are except to say I know it has to be less than .25 oz on most. The only exceptions were the Zia Sea Tonic Aloe Toner and the Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash. Those two happened to be 2 fl oz. As for the rest they are tiny and three of the samples out of the full seven were ridiculous. The body moisturizer couldnt cover one butt cheek of mine let alone the rest of my body. And no I dont have a huge butt cheek.
I am disappointed to say the least with the Zia To Go Kit for Acne Relief and Oily Skin and I would never recommend it to anyone. I actually am not even sure I would recommend the company, even though they do good things in Tibet with their money. It is the simple fact that there are other companies out there making all natural products for half or less than what Zia is offering. These companies also have a decent fragrance to go along with the product. It is not offensive to me. There may be many of you who love Zia and that is why each of us have a mind of our own. I just happen to think I got ripped off out of $19.99 that I personally want back but cant get at this point.
Lets move through each product and I will give you the run down on how I felt and what it did for me and why I do or dont like it.
The Breakdown of the Zia To Go Kit for Acne Relief and Oily Skin(ALL Directions and ALL Ingredients were taken from packaging and bottles for each Product)
Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash
The Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash came in 2 fl oz and is for normal, oily, or problem skin. I have a little bit of oily and problem skin. I always break out at the time of the month all us women love and it can be yucky to try to control.
The Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash is supposed to smell like Citrus and let me tell you the only words that come to mind are citrus gone wrong. To me, it smells overly natural if that possible and odd.
Secondly, it doesnt clean my face very well as it is supposed to be a gentle exfoliating cleanser. It is light and has no harshness to it that you may mistake it for being lotion instead. The Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash did not lather as it said it would when I rubbed it into my skin. Also if I am exfoliating my skin I want to know that it is working at least a little bit.
Due to the smell and the lack of exfoliation going on for my face, I did not like this product. I was not impressed with what it was set to do for my skin nor was I awed by the citrus scent gone wrong.
Directions for Use: Shake Well before use. Massage a small amount onto wet skin for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly follow with toner and moisturizer.
Ingredients: Citrus Extract, Aloe Vera Extract, Vitamin E, Sorbitol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20
Sea Tonic Toner
After the Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash, I went ahead and started with the Zia Sea Tonic Aloe Toner. Now one would think that after using the Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash, I would not have dirt on my face since it is after all supposed to exfoliate the dead skin cells. Well the Zia Sea Tonic Aloe Toner was still able to pick up dirt along the way on the cottonball.
I didnt mind the Zia Sea Tonic Aloe Toner as it seemed to do its job although I wouldnt spend a lot of money on it either. For 6 fl oz it is over $11.00 which for my taste is a bit much for toner. It didnt have much of a scent and left my skin feeling balanced and clean. The best smell I could compare it to would be alcohol, but since I grew up literally on the beach as a kid, I smelled no sea in that bottle.
Over all the Zia Sea Tonic Aloe Toner is supposed to hydrate, balance, and sooth your skin and it did all of this. I liked it but due to the price wont be going back for seconds.
Directions: After cleansing, thoroughly moisten face with toner either by hand or with soft cotton. Apply moisturizer while skin is damp, toner will aid absorption.
Ingredients: Deionized water, Bladderwrack Extract (seaweed), Aloe Vera Gel, Glycerin, Essential oils of Ylang Ylang and Cypress, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxymethlglycinate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid
Herbal Moisture Gel
The Zia Oil Free Herbal Moisture Gel came in what I would say is less than a .25 fl oz tiny bottle and it is clear gel. I put it on my skin and it soaked it up pretty well. There was no scent that I could detect from this gel at all. I looked on the website (www.zianatural.com) and it states that the gel is supposed to moisturize without adding more oil to your already oily skin basically. It also mentions that it helps heal blemishes.
After having it on my skin, my skin went from smooth, to sappy almost. Although my skin had absorbed the Zia Oil Free Herbal Moisture Gel, my skin no longer felt smooth. As for blemishes, I didnt have any luck with any of them going away with this kit. I maintained them all for the time period of the lasting of the kit. The samples, like this one, were quite small so the Zia To Go Kit for Acne Relief and Oily Skin was not exactly lasting in the first place anyways.
Directions: Apply a small amount to face dampened with Sea Tonic Aloe Toner. Wait 10 minutes before applying makeup
Ingredients: Deionized water, Gotu Kola Extract, Sorbitol, Panthenol, Carrageenan, Xanthan Gum, Algae Extract, Essential Oil of Sandalwood, Horsetail Extract, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea
Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask
The Zia Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask came in a less than .25 fl oz jar I would guess. There was no amount placed on it. It looks orange, hence the pumpkin, but smells awful. When I put it on it looked like a baby threw up on my face. I left it on for 20 minutes. It did slightly burn a little as I do have sensitive skin.
My face did not feel refreshed or renewed after using the Zia Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask. I was not impressed by it at all. For 1.2 fl oz it is $22.95 which I feel is a complete rip off to the consumer. I have found three other exfoliating masks for half that price that do a better job than the Zia Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask.
Directions: Spread a small amount evenly over damp face and neck. Leave on for 5 20 minutes, depending on level of intensity desired.
Ingredients: Pumpkin Puree, Deionized Water, Soybean Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Honey, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pineapple Juice, Pectin, Xantham Gum, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Carrot Juice, Nonfat Dry Milk, White Willow Bark, Grapeseed Extract, Green Tea (&) Calendula (&) Lavender Extracts, Hydrolized Soy Protein, Retinyl Palmitate, Vitamin D, Carrageenan, Sweet Orange Essential Oil, Frankincense Essential Oil, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
Ultimate Exfoliant
The Zia Ultimate Exfoliant is the ultimate experience of heck. It was painful and burned my skin. My face felt as if it was on fire. I did not like it and it smelled like the rest of all the other products, wrong and weird. It didnt have much of a scent but the scent it had wasnt doing much for me either.
As far as exfoliating my skin, the Zia Ultimate Exfoliant was a green lotion substance that lathered a little as you rubbed it into your face. Was it amazing? No. Was it uplifting and you felt silky smooth? No. It was like any other exfoliating experience I have had in the past except I could only do it twice since the sample was so small.
If you half a .25 fl oz, that is the size of the little bottles I think. I am not sure. It just wasnt enough to really make a full assessment and all I can say is that I wont be trying to make a clearer one at 2 fl oz costing 29.95.
Directions: Gently massage a small amount onto damp skin. Leave on for 1 2 minutes; rinse well with warm water
Ingredients: Green Papaya Concentrate (enzyme), Citrus Concentrate of Lemon, Lime and Raw Sugar Cane (AHA), Citrus Extract, Aloe Vera Gel, Ceteareth-20, Vitamin E Acetate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben
Acne treatment Mask
The Zia Acne treatment Mask was minty smelling and I thought, oh finally something that doesnt smell weird and will feel nice on my skin. Well I thought my face was on fire with the Zia Ultimate Exfoliant but I hadnt got to this product yet. The Zia Acne Treatment Mask was actually painful and hurt and I was dying to get it off my skin. The first 2-3 minutes it burned as it set into my face.
Then it tightened up as it dried and when I washed it off, most of it had dried clear rather than white. The mask is white. It was easy to rinse off but then you get that same intense burning feeling as you are rinsing off as well.
The Zia Acne Treatment Mask over all was just painful and not something I want to put my skin through again. It also didnt leave my skin exceptionally smooth by any means or my pores opened either. I was fooled by the nice minty freshness. Also from their website for 3 fl oz it is $14.95 which I think is ridiculous for the amount of mask you are getting in return. I had less than .25 fl oz to work with. Now I see why the entire kit cost $19.95.
Directions: Apply to damp skin. Leave on for 10 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water. May be used 1 3 times a weej or overnight as a spot treatment.
Ultimate Body Moisture
The Zia Ultimate Body Moisture also came in a small bottle that was less than .25 fl oz. I thought this was sort of funny because it was for your body and it barely was enough to cover my two arms. In fact it didnt.
It also was a creamy lotion that left a horrible scent on me that was not appealing to me nor any of the bugs that could be flying my way. It was yucky and I had to wash it off because I felt like I smelled like the plague and my fiancé was also grossed out by me. He is pretty tolerant but he put his foot down on this one.
It is supposed to be for all skin types and will moisturize your skin and smooth away the roughness. It just wasnt smoothing away anything for me. So I finally washed it off and put on lotion that I liked from my Victorias Secret collection.
Directions: Apply liberally to damp skin over the entire body.
Ingredients: Deionized water, Rosemary Water, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Mango Butter, Hydrolyzed Palm Kernel Oil, Aloe Vera Gel, Lecithi, Cetyl Stearate, Monoi Oil, Green Tea Extract, Orange Extract, Algae Extract, Panthenol, Lactic Acid, Essential Oils of Grapefruit, Rosewood and Lavender, Tocopheryl, Xantham Gum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Retinol, Cholecalciferol, Diazolidinyl Urea

Final Thoughts on the Zia To Go Acne Relief and Oily Skin Kit
I felt for $19.99 I should have received more out of this set. The jars and bottles were all plastic and cheap feeling. When I did my review on the Burts Bees Facial Care Kit the containers were pleasant and pretty. The samples in the Zia collection didnt even have the stickers put on them straight. It just made it less appealing to me. The other kit also cost me half the price and there were more contents and better quality products.
I was really excited to try the Zia To Go Acne Relief and Oily Skin Kit as I battle with my skin here in the summer. I sweat in the hot days if I go out and the next day I have a pimple poking out saying hello, here I am. I wanted and was expecting too much out of what was offered from Zia. Zia is obviously an extremely expensive company and I guess it is good that I didnt get hooked on their stuff. In the long run, I may not have been able to afford it.
The Kit comes in Normal and Dry skin as well for others. It is supposed to help you for your traveling days. I would just hope that you arent taking a weeks vacation because there isnt enough here to last through 2 days.
Finally, as I said earlier, I cannot and will not recommend the Zia To Go Acne Relief and Oily Skin Kit to any woman out there, nor would I really recommend the company. The products that I have tried are way over priced, do not leave your skin enhanced and are not worth your hard earned money. I will be on the hunt for more as for now, I have other things to help me. Thanks for getting through this with me.
Until next time,
K Parsons
