What does Porsche know about coffee?

Pros: Cool look. Easy to use. Sturdy. Good overall feel of how components fit together.
Cons: Coffee's not hot enough, even with preheating carafe. Typical auto-drip quality coffee. Tall. Expensive.
The Bottom Line: If you are bigger on style than you are for features and flavor, this may be your machine; Other, cheaper, full-featured makers may offer more control for a better cup.

I bought a thermal so I could keep the pot at the table, or at least close at hand, once it was brewed. I'm a bit of a coffee junky, and seeing that I've been through about seven makers in the past two years - a bit of a snob as well.
This coffee maker looks and feels great. Fits in with any mod kitchen. The carafe and the water tank have a very affirmative fit onto the base, even though the carafe has to be pulled off of the base from the side - which may be awkward in a cramped kitchen. The coffee maker is easy to use, since it doesn't really have any sophisticated features other than being able to indicate a small (2-4) or large(4-8) number of cups so the maker compensates its brewing cycle.
This "Porsche" designed maker is about 14.5 inches tall, 1.5 " taller than my current Braun FlavorSelect maker, which may be problematic for people with less cupboard clearance.
My main complaint is the temperature of the coffee due to the thermal carafe. I've even tried preheating the carafe and cups with hot tap water, but the coffee always comes out shy of what I prefer. I am convinced that this is just the nature of the thermal makers.
Even though the fit and finish of this maker is quite nice, it doesn't have enough features for the price. There are no flavor-selector, water filter, or clock-timer features. This unit was 2-3 times more expensive as other makers that have all these features.
The carafe has to be washed by hand, since water gets trapped in a void-space in the base, and takes a considerable time to shake out. I cannot remember what the manufacturers recommendations were, but this unit's parts are not nearly as easy to wash as my Braun maker - where MANY of the parts can be disassembled and are machine washable.
I've retired this product quite some time ago in favor of a Bodum french-press, a Chemex (manual) coffee maker, and now - a Braun FlavorSelect Auto-Drip.
