Pros: shows how far we've come in understanding sex; good ideas for better intercourse
Cons: some madmen and madwomen; boring or silly theories covered; dated: clitor!s censored bysite
The Bottom Line: A better choice would be Satisfaction: The Art of Female Orgasm unless you like reading history and clinical drawings.

I gently close the 1992 book published by, or to be more accurate, compiled by Philip Nobile with an emphasis on Edward Eichel's Coital Alignment Theory (C.A.T.). Called The Perfect Fit: How To Achieve Mutual Fulfillment And Monogamous Passion Through The New Intercourse, it sounded ideal for helping me understand the history of sex therapy and perhaps clue me in on what might work best today. Of course the sex surrogate I, um, interviewed unwillingly would have her own ideas, but I should be prepared to intelligently discuss the therapy for my clients. This book, after a slow start, has given me some good ideas.
Grabbing my pen I open my new notebook and scrawl on the blank page:
Contents: Chapter 1: A Natural History of Intercourse
A Fondness For Male Orgasm (referring to the Grand Designer of mammals); females haven't "uniformly inherited the fittest sexual genes" because their orgasms, unlike males', aren't necessary for conception. Hmph!
The Clitor!s: To Have and Have Not: Freud "demotes the masculinized clitor!s," seen as a female penis, "in favor of the more feminine vagina" and traumatized women who couldn't get off with only stimulation of the vagina. Oh dear!
The Penis: A Marvel: human male is "extraordinarily well-endowed" compared to other primates, yet they are obsessed with size and length. Boring analysis of black and white penises, sex researchers covering up data ad nauseum
Athletes of Orgasm: This just became ridiculous...
Contents: Chapter 2: The Search For Female Coital Orgasm
(I check my watch for how much time I have before 29th_Candidate shows up for his session. Yikes!)
Wilhelm Reich: Crazy Versus Sane Orgasms: orgasmic potency theory; a madman banished, deported, imprisoned
Havelock Ellis: Longer Intercourse Is Better: promoted women's "natural amorous instincts." Married to a lesbian, never wrote of male climax or penetration. Undinism was his thrill.
Th. H. Van De Velde: Men Give Women Orgasms: "intercourse was a matter of good sportsmanship." Woman's climax is triggered by man's ejaculation.
Alfred Kinsey: Steady, Uninterrupted Rhythm: Thrusting is enough.
Masters and Johnson: Claims of Female Orgasm: short-term behavioral exercises to train couples to climax, such as "non-demanding thrusting," different positions, counseling, touching foreplay; much criticism of their success rate
Shere Hite: A New Kind of Intercourse, Or Else: feminist with suspect theories and controversial disdain for intercourse.
John Perry: Hitting The G Spot: erogenous zone in vagina that causes vaginal orgasm and sometimes ejaculation; most female orgasms blended with vagina and clitor!s; rear-entry supports this best. Interesting!
Dr. Alan Brauer and Donna Brauer: Hour-Long Orgasm: Ugh, ugh, ugh. Penis can grow!
Contents: Chapter 3: Edward Eichel and the New Intercourse
Coital Alignment Theory: man stretched on top rides higher on woman to then stroke the clitor!s and G Spot with base of their penis, creates "synchrony" as both sexes are active in an easy rocking motion. Criticism, drawings with detailed instructions, followed by questions and answers (isn't one position a prescription for boredom? Not with a variety of foreplay) and eight stories of alignment and override from his mostly satisfied clients (one man admitted to still need more vigorous sexplay).
Concluding Thoughts
It seems reasonable to conclude that we are all sexual beings with the need to communicate to our partners what gives us the most pleasure. Experimentation both agree to may lead to mutual fulfillment. No one sex therapist knows what will help the couple most and can only make suggestions.
I need to consult with that Miss Cunengonde (toospoiled as the sex surrogate), but rear-entry and the C.A.T. method would be my suggestions, yet depending on time and energy one will work better sometimes than the other. Compromise or cooperation with the other will produce "the perfect fit" for the average couple. The book with its string of sex therapists, as well as reading the early myths of intercourse, goes to show that sex therapists or theorists would help themselves and the public more by listening more instead of talking so much.
I'll take my advice with one last point to make. The Perfect Fit by Philip Nobile with Edward Eichel at 171 pages and a short Appendix...I look up as 29th most likely raps on my door. I call out for him to come in while finishing my sentence:...is a well-covered criticism of the history of our sexual appetite not just in America, but occasionally it could become irritating in its focus and ultimately is dated and lacking criticism of the "New Intercourse."
I look up and smile. 29th is standing casually in front of me, swinging some keys. He grabs my free hand.
"Let's get out of this stuffy, refiltered air!" I'm pulled towards the door. "I think better if I can breathe," he adds with a wink and I laugh, barely managing to grasp my bag.
