Visited Berkeley the Friday after Thanksgiving. Weather this time of year is perfect for fall. Cool but only a light windbreaker is needed.
We spent the day buying used books and trinkets .. "Bezerkey" still so much the same as in the late sixties.
One thing worth considering is a lunch at the Blue Nile Restaurant on Telegraph Avenue. Ethiopian food and a real treat . The menu is large and varied with prices ranging from $5.00 to $8.00 for combination plates.
The food is more well seasoned than spicy-hot but very flavorful. The food is eaten without utensils. They bake a bread that is similar to a crepe which is used to pick up the various dishes. This is both fun and challenging . The combination plates offer 8 choices so our party mixed and matched so we were able to sample almost the entire menu. Wonderful and satisfying.
The cafe is decorated is a straw hut motiff. The atmosphere is casual, warm and very friendly. The staff wear traditional Ethiopian dresses.
