| charbeach's Full Review: The Blue Nile |
I have been going to the Blue Nile for 14 years and for good reason. The food is quite tasty and the people working in the restaurant are friendly and helpful.
When I first started going there my daughter was 6 years old and would only eat the rice. Over the years we have brought many friends and loved ones to sample the fare to unanimous approval. For lunch it's nice to sit downstairs, separated from the people in the next table by a beaded curtain and listening to music. The hostess will happily explain the significance of the items used to decorate the restaurant - for example, check out the rows of angels overhead, or the musical instruments hung here and there.
We prefer to eat family-style in the traditional manner. That means the food is served on a platter in the center of the table and each person's "plate" is a square of waxed paper. You take the bread (like a spongy crepe), tear off a smallish piece, pick up the food you want off the center tray with the bread and pop it into your mouth. Using your right hand only, of course.
Regular plates and silverware are available on request and the hostess will not give you attitude for asking for them.
Also, they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes, the carrots are delicious, the dishes come mild or spicy and some of the chicken dishes do come with the bone in, the waitress will help you order.
In addition to the usual sodas, one can order fruit drinks or white wine mixed with honey. It's very tasty and also packs more of a punch than unsweetened wine, so watch out.
As usual on Telegraph, the parking can be hard to find. We usually have pretty good luck up around the corner, but don't count on being able to park closer than a block away from the restaurant.
