| jps246's Full Review: The Birth Date Book April 15 Books |
If you like astrology or want an easy gift for someone who does, you should pick up a copy of The Birth Date Book. There is an individual birth date book for each day of the year so the information is tailored exactly to your birth or to whomever youre giving the book too. My birthday is April 15th, so thats the book I ended up getting for myself.
However, both my partner and I picked up copies of the The Birth Date Book, his for July 20 and mine for April 15. Both the books and in fact, all of the Birth Date books for each date, follow the same outline when it comes to information presented. So while the specific information may change, once youve read one Birth Date book, youll know what to expect in all the others, when it comes to the basic outline of information.
The books are mini-books (slightly larger than the standard post-it notes), but that doesnt mean that they dont pack in a lot of information. In its 80 pages, the The Birth Date Book covers everything youd expect to find in the bigger (and more expensive) birthday books.
Whats Inside
Beyond a quick introduction to the idea of the Birth Date book idea, the book quickly jumps into various astrological symbols and how they refer back to the date of your birth. Thats followed by a look at your personality and how your birth date influences your life, your actions and your personality.
The introduction provides useful information on the idea of how your birth date influences you and your life. It also gives you an idea of what to expect throughout the rest of the book when it comes to various kinds of symbols and their meaning.
For such a small book, the information is really packed in. Each of these areas are explored and explained as to how they relate to your birth date:
Astrological Sun Sigh
Personal Tarot Card
Chinese Astrological Symbol
Crowning Jewel
Lucky Number
Alphabet Soup
Week Link
Magical Food
Color Cue
Flower Power
Animal Affinity
Personal Proverb
Word of advice
I have to say when I first flipped over to the Tarot Card section and saw the death card, I had to do a double-take. Though Im happy to say it doesnt mean Im going to die, so much as that my life will continually growing and going through stages.
When it comes to the personality section, the following areas are looked into:
Secret Wish
Personality Profile
Room for Improvement
On the Job
At Play
Home Sweet Home
How do you love?
Whom do you love?
Your past lives
Theres also a section on other people who have birthdays on the same birth date that you have.
Each chapter runs for a few pages and while its not as in-depth as some other astrology books, anyone reading the The Birth Date Book can get a good idea of how an individual relates to each of the categories and how those categories impact the person.
As with most astrology books, I doubt youll learn anything earth shattering about yourself, since we all read into what we want to know about ourselves. Thats not to say that the book isnt helpful in some ways. One over-riding theme in my Birth Date Book is that an Aries like myself born on this day can basically boil over if they let stress build up and continue to harbor resentments. Well, I know thats advice for everyone, but considering my recent health its something Im going to take to heart and follow through with. Aries on my birth date need to unwind and Im going to try.
One section I put little faith into is the Whom do you love section. Im tired of reading book after book saying that an Aries and a Cancer will never love one another. My partner and I have been together for over 8 years and were still going strong it seems that theres at least one Aries-Cancer pair that can make it.
Thoughts
A lot of these sections I would imagine people are fairly familiar with. Anyone with a passing interest in astrology will know what sign they are and will probably know at least a few of the sections that this book goes over. However its nice to have it all in a single, easy to reach place.
People with a strong interest in astrology will probably be bored with these books. They merely present the basic ideas of your birth date astrology and dont go into details that some might be looking for.
As one who looks to astrology more as entertainment than anything else I liked my book and my partners. They are fun to read, especially with other people because you can compare one another and if you are at all interested in astrology they are a convenient way to have a lot of information on your birth date in a single place.
Final Take
Personally for me, I think of this book as a treat for myself and I know that it makes a fun gift for someone else (its a bit novel for someones birthday). Though if you are looking for in-depth astrological information, this isnt the book to find it in.
The Birth Date Book isnt meant to be the end-all of birth date astrology. What is it for? Its something that is perfect for anyone who wants an introduction to what astrology says about his or her birth date.
