| adamsjill's Full Review: St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturing Body Wash |
As some of you know, St. Ives Swiss Formula Apricot Moisturizing Body Wash is my absolute favourite (see Review). However, last time I went to get some I discovered it was SOLD OUT (aaaaargh!!!!)...after a minor panic attack I decided to try out St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash as it was in stock, on sale, and had a nice fresh smell-and smell is what attracted me to the Apricot in the first place.
A little more about St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash
St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash comes in a 13.5oz bottle. Like the Apricot it is about $5.00 CAD and is often on sale for close to 3.00-not bad at all if you don't know Canadian money, comparable to any drugstore body wash.
It is clear green gel, and the bottle is flip top and clear with pictures of melon and cucumber on it. The smell is mostly cucumber with a bit of sweetness - not nearly as fruity as the Apricot but a clean and refreshing smell regardless.
The website (www.stives.com) claims: for a fabulously scented shower experience, try Cucumber Melon Body Wash from St. IvesŪ. Cooling cucumber and moisture-rich melon, plus skin-nourishing Vitamin E, combine in a formula that softens and smoothes your skin as you envelop yourself in its wonderful fragrance and luxurious lather.
The ingredients are not listed on the website or bottle, I have contacted cusutomer service to get them and will update when I do.
And???
I have used St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash every day for 2 weeks now, on a pouf, and I like it a lot:
It has a nice clean smell, the smell wakes me up and makes me feel good, which I find very important in a body wash. It is faint on my body after I dry off, which I also like-doesn't disappear or make me feel like a walking supermarket!!
It has a nice thick lather that feels nice, but rinses away cleanly and easily with no residue.
If I use St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash without moisturizer afterwards, my skin does not feel tight and flaky as it does with some body washes, and there are no dry patches. There, however, is a matching lotion which I intend to buy.
How does it compare to the Apricot?
I would still say I prefer the Apricot, for 2 reasons:
1)I still like the smell of the Apricot more. I just like the very fruity smell and find it more refreshing, the Cucumber is more subtle.
2)I find that although the Cucumber does not dry out my skin at all, the apricot seems to exfoliate it a little better and leave my skin a little smoother on the "bumpy" areas.
That said, if the Apricot as sold out or the Cucumber was on sale and Apricot was not-I'd have no hesitation buying St. Ives Cucumber Melon Moisturizing Body Wash again.
As well, I'm hoping to talk my (bar soap only) husband into trying it out as I think the clean fresh smell would be very nice on a guy-clean and fruity without being girly like the Apricot would be!!!
This product caused no skin irritation whatsoever.
