Pros: The carton is made from 100% recycled paperboard.
Cons: They are too delicious.
The Bottom Line: I can't recommend these other than as a candy bar. They have little protein, a lot of sugar and I don't consider them nutritious.

| jo.com's Full Review: Slim Fast Snack Bar |
This will be my last review of any of Slim-Fast bar unless they change their formula. I am reviewing the Slim-Fast Snack Bar. I still have one more Slim-Fast product to review and then I am done with this diet forever. Another personal trainer told once upon a time to look at the word diet and focus on the first three letters: die. His point was that dieting (as opposed to eating well, clean is the word we use in the field of weight training) may just kill you.
This is my opinion, Slim-Fast, so dont sue me. I think this diet may kill someone. Perhaps I am being an extremist (A name my husband gives to me regularly.) but the Ultra Slim-Fast delicious energy snack bars (The exact name on the box.) that I am reviewing are really too delicious. The problem is that if anyone has an eating disorder, if anyone is diabetic, or if anyone is a carbohydrate addict and gets triggered by carbohydrates and sugar like I do, then these are deadly. You may not find yourself eating just one bar to give you a boost of energy like the package says; you may find yourself eating the entire box.
You may say that isn't Slim-Fast's problem. You need to have willpower. Of course, that is true, but it is just my suggestion that if any of the above sounds like you, these bars are not for you unless you just want to have a 120 calorie treat.
I am reviewing the Crispy Peanut Caramel snack bar and see the warning on the top of the box. This is what it says, Attention: These bars are incredibly delicious. Please dont overeat. Remember the purpose is to help you keep your weight down. Drink two glasses of water or a diet beverage with each bar to help you satisfy your hunger.
These wont satisfy your hunger thats for sure. For one thing they are a 1-ounce bar. Lets face it, if you are having a problem with overeating then keeping these in the house is not going to accomplish anything. If you need a boost of energy during the day, there are a lot of bars on the market that do not contain as much sugar and are healthier for you.
They also come in Peanut Butter Crunch and Rich Chewy Caramel. If you go to the website www.slimfast.com you will find some great information. The website is terrific. Each product is listed with all the vitamins and nutrients in it as well as what the various vitamins and nutrients do for you. This comes from the website for the Crispy Peanut Caramel Flavor:

Remember this bar is only 1 ounce. It has 1 gram of protein, which is almost 0, and 13 grams of sugar. Some say we shouldnt eat more than 16 grams of sugar a day. I am not reviewing the Slim-Fast plan itself, but that, in my opinion, is a major problem with this program. The amount of sugar in every product is astounding. That is what makes many of the products taste so good. If you have the will power to only eat one of these tiny bars, I applaud you. If you have that kind of will power, you dont need any kind of diet
For 1-ounce there is a good percentage of calcium at 25% of what you need for the day but you can easily get that from a multi vitamin or from food. The vitamin percentages are low but again it is based on a very small bar.
Other ingredients include: milk chocolate, nonfat dry milk, whey soy lecithin, corn syrup, sugar, crisp rice, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, roasted peanuts, gum arabic, wheat fiber, brown sugar, salt and may contain egg.
You may be able to tell from the ingredients how good these taste. They are crunchy with a caramel center making them chewy also. They dont have much of a peanut taste; the taste is mostly chocolate and caramel.
There is an expiration date on the bottom of the box so if you do buy these, look for it. I paid $3.79 for 6.
In summary: I cant recommend these bars. They are delicious but they are chock full of junk and other than some vitamins, which you can get in better places, they have no redeeming qualities.
