The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend Robitussin Liqui-Gels for coughs. This product worked well with little side effects.

It's that time of year when many of us are hacking and coughing and sniffing and sneezing. While I was a good girl and did have my flu shot this year, I still managed to catch a bad cold that lead to bronchitis. Not fun. I did go to the doctor and was told it was probably viral, so no real need for antibiotics.
So, off I went to my local drug store to pick up some supplies to help me make it through the day (and night!). Now, I must say that I hate cough syrup and usually avoid it because it makes me feel like a zombie and tastes awful. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Robitussin now comes in liqui-gels! No taste to deal with! But would it work as well as the syrup? Would I feel like the Living Dead? I decide to give it a try.
The Product...
Robitussin Cold/Cough Liqui-gels are found in the same aisle as the cough syrups. I purchased a 20 count bottle for $4.95. The directions are as follows:
* Do not take more than 8 capsules in any 24-hour period
* Adults and children 12 years and over, take 2 capsules
every 6 to 8 hours, as needed
* Children under 12 years, ask a doctor
The active ingredient in each capsule is dextromethorphan HBr, USP 15 mg (cough suppressant).
My Experience...
I took 2 capsules as directed. I began to have relief from my hacking cough in about 30 minutes. I felt less urgency to cough, and when I did cough it was not as severe. I found these Robitussin liqui-gels to work as well for me as traditional cough syrup...with no nasty taste to deal with. Another benefit with this formula is that it is easy to carry with you.
As far as weird side effects go, I did not notice any intense drowsiness or drugged feeling. I felt safe to drive. The formula I bought does not state that it is "non-drowsy", but again I didn't have a problem using it. It did not effect my sleep in any negative way. The cough suppressant effects of the Robitussin liqui-gels lasted about 6-7 hours for me.
I am happy to report that this product works well on coughs without many side effects. I am still recovering from my bronchitis/cold, but feeling much better.
