Pros: long lasting, good coverage, blends well, oil free, SPF 6
Cons: only SPF 6, "Revlon-ish scent", can cake if you rush blending
The Bottom Line: My new favourite for brightening up the under-eye area.

| baby_pie's Full Review: Revlon Colorstay Concealer SPF 6 |
Last Saturday night as I was preparing for a night out I realised it had been a while since I had used concealer under my eyes. Not that I didn't get dark circles occasionally, but just that I had run out and just forgot to buy more. A few days of disrupted sleep had left me needing some brightening so in a desperate attempt I thought I'd swipe some white eye-shadow over my eyes. This appeared to work fine but it wasn't until I was in the car that I noticed under the rear-view light that I had accidentally used a very glittery white eyeshadow! Imagine the area that covers your eyes when you wear sunglasses - that was how much glittery white I'd applied to myself LOL And the worst (or best) part was that I didn't have time to wash my face and start over so I spent the night looking like a fairy. The next day I went shopping for real under-eye concealer.
I decided on Revlon Colorstay Concealer, remembering a recommendation from my friend Teri/theresaro (thanks!).
Revlon Colorstay Concealer is oil free (no animal, vegetable or mineral oil) and has a SPF of 6.
It comes in a clear plastic tube of .21 Fl Oz / 6.2 ml. The lid screws off to reveal a wand applicator and I haven't had a problem with too much product coming out at once.
It has a light and thin texture that applies easily to skin. The scent is pretty much the same as that of Revlon Colorstay Make-up and is pretty noticeable, though it doesn't bother me as I can't smell it once it's on my face.
It comes in 3 shades. Ivory (lightest), Natural Beige (Medium shade slightly darker than Ivory) and Sand Beige (for olive or darker complexions).
The active ingredient is titanium dioxide 4%. The rest of the ingredients are:
Water, Cyclomethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Butylene Glycol, Boron Nitride, Tribehenin, SD Alcohol 40-B, Nylon-12, Dimethicone Copolyol, Isododecane, Isooctahexacontane, Sodium Chloride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Aloe Extract, Silk Powder, Bisabolol, Cetyl Dimethicone Copolyol, Methicone, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ethylene Brassylate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides, Mica
Revlon says:
"...ColorStay® Concealer flawlessly covers dark circles, blemishes and imperfections..."
My main reason for purchasing was for concealing dark circles so I chose Ivory. My dark circles are pretty minimal and half the time I don't even have any but still want something to "wake-up" my eye area. I found this concealer does an excellent job of covering dark circles and seems to brighten my whole eye area. Because it's a shade lighter than my face it lightens the area and makes me look more alert.
On a day when I needed it I applied 2 layers within 60 seconds and found that it layers well provided it hasn't set yet. Plus it doesn't look or feel heavy or thick.
I usually use my Clinique concealer on blemishes as it contains salicylic acid while Revlon's does not. But I tried it anyway to see how it performed and was pleased to see it does a very good job of covering blemishes. It also works well on any redness.
"...It blends smoothly to ensure a perfect match with any skintone..."
It applies smoothly and does seem to disappear into skin while concealing BUT you have to blend well. I rushed one time and was left with visible lines around the area where I applied. But as long as you blend properly you shouldn't have a problem.
"...conceals all day without fading..."
It does last all day. When applied at around 7am it's still concealing at 10pm and has not faded. It also does not rub off if you touch your face. Much like Revlon's Colorstay foundation this concealer sets in 60 seconds and stays there.
This is a good quality concealer that does what it says it will. I believe it would suit all skin types with the exception of maybe extremely dry skins which may find this product too drying. I have combo skin and it stays matte on my oily parts and doesn't fade any quicker in that area.
My only complaint is that I pay $22 for it while it seems to be a third of that in the US! Minus one star for that, but otherwise a very well performing product.
