I must admit, these scooters are pretty cool looking. I think that my favorite is the orange, just because it's unusual. I've always had a giant red scooter which worked well, but it didn't fold up. When I first saw these, I decided I really wanted to try one. There were some drawbacks to them, which I will explain.
The first drawback is the size. The wheels are tiny! This makes the scooter very hard to control, and it tends to make swervy little turns. The handlebars cannot go up that far, so you kind of have to hunch over them. The base is pretty small, so your foot can kind of slip off. I was riding on one of these, and was going pretty fast when (it was on a bumpy road) it hit a rock and sort of fell over. I sort of fell over too, and skinned my foot (I was wearing sandals). This did not give the scooter bonus points in my mind, but I guess once you get used to riding it, it is much easier.
Another problem was the brake. It was kind of like how it is hard to brake on rollerblades, because you have to lean back. The brake on the scooter is a piece of metal extending over the wheel, which you have to stand on in order to stop. This is quite awkward and not nearly as effective as hand brakes. I realize that the scooter is too small for anything like hand brakes, but it still takes some getting used to.
Now for the pros- it's lots of fun. You can bring it anywhere. It folds up and is easy to carry. It comes in many spiffy colors. It can go pretty fast. Basically it's a good scooter as long as you don't fall off.
