My son is not spoiled.
There, I had to get that out of the way... now I can continue with the review. While doing my research on baby stuff, I came across the concept of a "wipes warmer," which I promptly scoffed at as silly. I mean, hello... I live in Orlando for pete's sake -- it's not like I live in a frozen tundra. We had never even turned the heat on in our house before (until this year... I wasn't even sure it worked), so I highly doubted my little man would need to have his wipes heated. That being said I left the item off my registry and went about my business, completely forgetting about it.
My son was born on November 28th and promptly decided that he hated having his diaper changed. Aidan would rather sit with a dirty diaper all day than go through the indignity of changing time, and he would make this feeling known loud and clear. I tried everything I could think of to make changing time better, but he just wouldn't tolerate it. Little did I know that it didn't have to be this way...
Product Specs
The Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer comes packaged with the warmer and an EverFresh Pillowfor about $22 (at Target). You can purchase extra pillows for $8.99/two. Each pillow is designed to last for 3 months before replacement.
The wipe warmer is a fairly straightforward and simple contraption. It is a white plastic container that has a regular, flip-up lid (to open the warmer and refill the wipes or replace the pillow) and a pop-up lid (to dispense the wipes). There is a green light on the front that stays lit to let you know the warmer is on and working. The only small complaint I have is that the cord (no batteries here) is fairly short. This means you either a) need to have the changing table VERY close to a plug or b) you'll need an extension cord. Remarkably, the dresser/hutch I'm using as a changing table is situated right in front of a plug... so I lucked out.
You can purchase the Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer pretty much wherever baby stuff is sold -- I've seen it at Wal-Mart, Target and Babies R Us. So is it easy to use?
You bet! Like I said earlier, it doesn't take Einstein to work the warmer. Before you use it for the first time, take a pillow and run it under water to soak it. Place the pillow on the bottom of the wipes container (it sits in between the heat source and your wipes) and plug it in. Put your wipes on top of the pillow and close the lid. It takes a few hours for your wipes to get warm, so make sure you replace the wipes before you run out (that way your little angel will always have warm wipes for their precious tush).
The instruction manual advises you to remove the pillow and rinse it in water every two weeks. I've found that if you let it go right to two weeks the pillow gets brown and dried, so I try to do it every week and a half. I like how low maintenance it is, especially the fact that you only have to replace the pillow every 3 months!
So how do ya like it?
I love it! I'm amazed at how my fiery little boy has settled down during diaper time. He still doesn't like it, but at least the screams have stopped. My wonderful stepmother-in-law took pity and gave the warmer to us as an early Christmas gift -- isn't experience wonderful? I loved the look of shock on his face when a nice warm wipe hit his tushie for the first time. His face almost screamed "Wow, that's WARM! THANKS MOM!." He hasn't cried during a diaper change since then; it really is amazing. I didn't think the diaper wipes were that cold, but I'm sure Aidan (and his behind) did. I almost wish they had a portable wipes warmer (lol); you should see the look of reproach on Aidan's face when a cold wipe from my diaper bag hits his tush.
So what about the manufacturer's claims? I've been using the Ultimate Wipe Warmer since early December and I haven't had a single problem. They claim that it keeps the wipes fresh and moist -- they will not turn brown. I have to agree. I haven't had any wipes yellow, turn brown or dry out yet. Keep in mind, however, that I am conscientious about rinsing the Ever-Fresh pillow. If you aren't as diligent, your wipes might yellow... so be careful!
Prince Lionheart also claims that the pillow is anti-microbial, but I can't really attest to that. It hasn't gotten moldy, or started to smell... so I'm sure that the wipes are bacteria free!
The actual warmer itself isn't huge (so it won't take up a ton of space in your changing area), but it does hold a fair amount of wipes. It claims to hold an entire refill size, but I can't attest to that because I buy my wipes in the bulk size (resealable). I know I have to add more wipes every few days, but (in my opinion) that isn't too often.
Aidan and I really, really like the Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer. It has made diaper time into a semi-pleasant experience for both of us. It is highly recommended for people even inthe warmest of climates, and I would say it's a must for anyone up north.
I really don't think this is something that "spoils" your child, I just think it's a considerate item for your child (especially if your child is temperature sensitive).
So, like I said before.. My son is not spoiled :).

Overall Recommendation: Anyone with a child in diapers should get one of these -- it has become one of our favorite gifts (above and beyond the swing and bouncy chair). Your child will appreciate a little thoughtful consideration (just as you appreciate your gyn showing a little thoughtful consideration by trying to warm the metal during an exam), and they'll show it by not screaming so hard your neighbors think about calling child services. The Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer is a necessity in any nursery!
