Pros: the cats stopped hacking...
Cons: hard to convince cats at first, keep closed tight or they dry out
The Bottom Line: Great alternative to hair-balls and/or preventative food, plus they're loved all around!

| manky's Full Review: Pounce Hairball Treat Ment |
Teenie, my first kitty rescue, is a fine, long, fluffy mess of hair. She looks beautiful, but that comes only after extensive maintenance sessions. Of course, these cleanings result in lots of excess hair consumption.
One day my little furball began a dry heaving motion, complete with horrid sounds and a pure anxiety attack to me, the human. It was shortly after this fact that I forked over the big money to try out these hair-ball avoiding treats.
I must admit, my little girl will eat just about anything, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to convince her these were "treats". My only concern at first (she was only a kitten) was that she couldn't seem to bite through the outer shell. So, I made it a habit of pressing the treats between two fingers, pre-breaking through the shell for the kitten. This also released more of the treat's smell, which encouraged her to recognize the treat!
The results were great, as far as I could tell. The hacking fits were few and far between, and the frequency of the treats grew to be much less.
Now that Teenie's grown some, I've acquired a second (short-hair) kitten. Once he was allowed to participate in mutual bathing habits, he too began this gross act of coughing over hair. This made me reach for the canister of Hair-Ball Treats on the fridge. Much to my dismay, I'd left it not-so-closed, and they were hard as rocks. (Believe me, even a spritz or two of water wouldn't revive them. I tried!) So the item was added to my grocery list.
In the end. These are an obvious favorite amongst the many treats I hand out. They are quickly gobbled up by either cat, unlike some which they prefer to bat around on the floor first!
While these treats may seem, outrageously expensive in comparison to regular treats. Note that they do perform their duty. Also, check out the difference between regular food and hair-ball preventative food, that alone may convince to try these out first!
