| tiffy0380's Full Review: Philosophy Strawberry Milkshake |
In my humble opinion Philosophy products either work or they dont. For me there is no in between. Products like Kiss Me and Soul Owner work especially good or philosophy products are a waste of time, i.e. Razor Sharp or Real Purity facial cleanser. Recently I was browsing on drugstore.com and found that they were offering a freebie of Kiss Me lip balm with a philosophy purchase. I scanned the list and saw that Strawberry Milkshake was on of the items I could purchase. I remember actually smelling Strawberry Milkshake and practically drooling over it in a Sephora a few weeks before.
Labeled a shampoo, bubble bath and a body wash I told myself I would use it as a body wash because I am very particular about what I put on my hair. I didnt think twice when I selected this item to put in my shopping bag. I told myself if I absolutely hated it I could sell it on eBay. After all Philosophy products are pretty popular on there.
Product Packaging and Hype:
Philosophy claims, Highly indulgent, the luscious scent of this ultra-rich shampoo/conditioner/bubble bath combo will whisk her back to summer. With vitamin E to help protect against environmental damage.
* contains vitamin e to help protect against environmental damage
* unique, long lasting fragrance
* gentle enough for everyday use
* works great as a bubble bath
* cleans and conditions in one step
Philosophy packages its products pretty much the same. Their packages in sturdy plastic bottles with clean black writing on the front. All of the philosophy products have a little ditty on the front, sometimes cute other times downright cheesy. The front of Strawberry Milkshake doesnt have a little saying in fact it was a recipe for making a genuine Strawberry Milkshake. One day Ill try it and if it works Ill keep you posted.
philosophy: 2c. fresh or frozen strawberries, 1c. milk, 1c. frozen ice cream or yogurt. place strawberries in blender, carefully pour in milk. gently scoop ice cream or yogurt into blender, careful not to splash. cover, then blend slowly up to puree. pour into a tall glass and top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
I have to express how happy I am that the people who created Philosophy products made their containers as they did. I dont have to worry about keeping Strawberry Milkshake in the shower in fear of the bottle getting messed up. The bottles have no stickers on the outside that peel off the moment the water hits it. This product was prices at $16.00 which makes it slightly expensive but I think it is a fluff product and worth the price.

My Experience
When you pop open the flip top bottle of Strawberry Milkshake the first thing you will notice is the smell. It wafts out of the bottle and is not overpowering, in fact its delicious smelling. I wouldnt suggest you eat it but take a deep breath. The closest I can come to describing the smell is a glass of strawberry quick or a daiquiri without the alcohol. Its sweet and pleasant smelling, perfect for relaxing in the bath or shower.
The cream itself is pink and pretty thick. This is good for a shower gel not as good for running a bubble bath. I squeezed a few dollops of Strawberry Milkshake into my bath and found that it wasnt as water soluble as I like. It created no bubbles and the water dimmed the smell so I immediately knew that I wasnt going to be using this again as a bubble bath. I mean I love bubbles galore and this cream barely made a ripple. They should advertise it as a bubble bath because frankly, it doesnt work as well as others bubble baths.
Another day while in the shower I had better luck using Strawberry Milkshake as a body wash. I squeezed a small amount on my shower puff and was pleasantly surprised that this stuff is concentrated enough that a quarter size amount is enough for me to cleanse myself. I never have any problems with the lather or the product itself irritating or chafing my skin.
When I am ready, I rinse off the body wash. It rinses off quickly and easily. There is no residue or film left on my skin. All that remains is very soft, smooth skin. I never noticed any tightness of my skin and really just a faint smell of the wash is left after I get out of the shower. Overall I would recommend this product as a luxurious frou frou treat. There are no real moisturizing capabilities and yet the cream will not dry out the skin. The smell is wonderful and the lather is a great treat in the morning as a starter.
