| mcwick's Full Review: Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip RTX Roller Ball Pen Fine Li... |
This is a good pen for the price (though I think there are certainly better pens out there).
The entire barrel is clear, and you can see the entire ink cartridge, except when it gets below the rubber grip. The grip does have three clear spots in it so you can judge the ink level when it's getting low.
I really like the pocket clip on this one - when it's pulled out a certain distance (like to go in a pocket) it pops the cartridge back up. I LOVE this feature because it means it's pretty impossible to mark up your pocket with this pen.
The ink is good and consistent. It flows well, and rarely skips. It comes in three colors (black, blue and red) and all three perform equally well. All colors are nice and crisp, and don't bleed.
It's very easy to refill this pen, you simply unscrew it right above the rubber grip and put in a refill (don't know what the prices are for the refills though).
The tip of the pen is tapered to a get small point (which I prefer). It is a .7mm pen, but it seems to write finer than most .7mm pens I've used. This pen was my favorite until very recently, when I fell in love with the Pentel Energel pen.
I'd still recommend this pen - it's still a favorite of mine, and I like having them around the house. It's definitely my favorite retractable hybrid pen.
This pen dries quickly on most papers (didn't try coated though) and doesn't smear, even when my hands are sweaty. This pen draws a continuous line and doesn't skip unless the paper gets uneven (ie: hanging off a clipboard onto a table - skips a bit on the gap between the two).
