According to the guidebooks guests of the Oprah Winfrey Show stay at the Omni Chicago Hotel. Although I did not see any celebrities I have no reason to doubt this claim since it is a very nice place to stay. The hotel has an excellent location on Michigan Ave. (Magnificent Mile). There are numerous shops and restaurants nearby.
You enter the hotel at a fairly stark lower lobby that contains a bell desk then take an elevator to the "real" lobby on the third floor. The main lobby is not huge, or overly opulent, but is pleasant and contains a number of sofas. You then must take another elevator to your room. Well, actually there are no rooms since the hotel is all suites.
Each suite consists of a living room with two chairs or a sofa bed, a wet bar with mini bar, a desk with phone and fax machine, and a television. The bedroom contains two doubles or one king bed and another TV. The bathroom is marble and connected to the bedroom and the living room by two doors. There are French doors between the living rooms and bedrooms. The suites are decorated with dark woods and have a "clubby" library feel. In fact, there are books in both rooms! We thought the room was pretty quiet although we could hear the people next door in their bathroom and if you are sitting in the living room you can hear doors slamming.
The hotel contains a lap pool, exercise room, whirlpool, restaurant and bar. My only complaints about the hotel were that the rooms were a little dark and there was no gift shop to buy a newspaper. We booked the hotel through Priceline and got a tremendous deal. If you need more space check out the Omni. Prices are comparable to other four star hotels in the city.
