| aaronlg's Full Review: Nordica Nordica Wave |
This good intermediate Northern California skier needed a new pair that would do everything well, and demoed about 25 different skis during the 98-99 season. The Volkl P30 Race Carvers clearly felt best - easy and quick turns, good control, fairly stable fast, a fun ski that made me smile. Unfortunately they were discontinued for the 99-00 season when I was ready to buy, and the replacement model didn't feel nearly as good. Then I tried the Nordica Wave and it was great, maybe better than the P30's. Too bad I couldn't test them back to back. Anyway, there were more demos of Waves against other skis, and I noticed that a happy grin returned to my face as soon as I got off the other skis and started carving down a hill on the Nordicas. So I bought a pair in March 2000 and they've been excellent, including on good powder at Alta and various conditions around SLC on Christmas Day 2000. Get a light and simple binding; I got adjustable Markers but only use the hardest setting. If you need flashy skis, forget it: these are basic black with a little chrome, which I think are very cool and less likely to be stolen. I love my Waves. Enjoy - Aaron
