| underdawg's Full Review: Nike Pro Dri-FIT Men's Baselayer Tee |
For those of you not familiar with the name David Boston, he's a wide receiver in the NFL and he's been bouncing around between teams now so I actually have no idea what team he's on as of this moment. Experts agree that he is right up there with Randy Moss and Terrell Owens in terms of talent but he's even less coachable than those two headcases and is really obsessed with bulking up. He has two of the hugest arms in the NFL...and he's a wide receiver. What does he think he is, a tight end?
So why am I bringing this guy up? Well, athletes all over the world have experience with all these new technology stuff in clothes lately. Brands like Underarmour, Nike's Dri-Fit, Adidas' Clima-Cool, (and I'm sure Reebok has something in this line as well) promise to keep us both warm and cool with minimal bulk. Really tight shirts from Underarmour's Cold Gear line helps people retain body heat, and I find it perfect to wear while snowboarding.
The new-age shirts that are supposed to keep us COOL come in two flavors. There are the really tight kind that somehow defy logic and keep athletes cool. Which is all well and good, but I didn't buy one of those because they don't look too comfortable and because I really don't have guns to be proud of. Besides my gut, I'm a pretty lean guy and would look ridiculous in such a tight shirt. Cold Gear is skin-tight too, but I always wear something over it.
So I got this Nike Dri-Fit shirt at Sports Authority for $25. It fits just like a plain old tee-shirt, but unlike those plain old analog cotton T's, it's made of out of polyester or something. I played with this shirt quite often during tennis practices. When you wear this shirt, it really feels like you're topless, which you'll come to appreciate since it really maximizes that refreshing feeling you get from that small breeze on a hot summer day when you just want to get off the court since the doubles team you're playing sucks and they take 10 minutes between points to talk strategy or something which obviously doesn't do them any good because they suck. Actually, I guess the naked thing isn't entirely accurate because this shirt also wicks away sweat, which is neat. Everyone knows how annoying sticky cotton T's are. Now, this shirt doesn't work miracles or anything. It won't turn a hot day into a nice crisp autumn afternoon or anything. But you will be significantly cooler than if you were wearing an analog T. And since it fits like a normal T, you won't look like an ass doing it.
The only problem I had with this T is that it seems to get dirty quite easily as it's kind of stained now. Now, I admit I am kind of a slob, and I think I got gum on it or something, but it's unwearable now. I'll read those washing instructions nest time. Nevertheless, it was $25 and well worth it. One last note, try to get white as it will keep you the coolest. I bought a black UnderArmour Loose Gear and it doesn't keep me all that cool.
