Before you continue, first read the epinion by kurt_h (A short story inside a novel). He hits the nail on the head. I simply disagree with him.
A good short story often shines like a bright star. Short and sweet. Expanding on short stories usually just dims that light, and Night_Fall is no exception. As much as I adore him, Dr. Asimov did have one failing. His works of fiction were often lacking in depth of character, and details involving interpersonal relationships (something good 'ol Issac often admitted himself). This is where his collaboration with Robert Silverberg truly shines. No one turns a character, and draws you into the story like Silverberg does. Together they created one of my favorite books. Its different then the short story, but special in its own right.

The Goods: Too much of a good thing. ;-)
Read it. Fan or not of short story expansions, you will enjoy this book.
