melissasrn's Full Review: Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash
It's no secret by now that I have super-duper oily skin and have or will try just about every cleanser out there in order to keep my acne problem under control. In fact, I sometimes wonder if my cleanser fetish just might be a bad thing as many different versions can be found in my bathroom right now. One out of many is this popular Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash in the convenient pump form. Medicated with 2% Salicylic Acid to treat acne and keep pores clean, this gentle yet effective cleanser is a staple product I always seem to go back to time and time again. As long as my skin stays oily, then I suspect I'll be purchasing this alcohol-free formula for a long time to come. And now that my 12 year old daughter has inherited my acne prone skin type, I buy this for her too as one of her basic shower time skin care products. Read on to find out more.
~~~The Cleanser~~~
According to product advertising found at their website, Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Washis the #1 dermatologist recommended acne-fighting cleanser. This oil-free formula gently cleanses deep down into pores for clear skin. Unlike ordinary cleansers, it contains Salicylic Acid to get rid of acne you have now and help prevent future breakouts. Special skin soothers help prevent irritation and overdrying. Skin is left clean, residue-free and never oily. The cleanser itself is clear orange in color and is a bit thin in consistency. But a little goes a long way, so it only takes a few small pumps for each use. The fresh clean scent is pleasant and light without being overpowering or smelling obviously medicated as some other choices do. Also available in gel, cream, foam, and cloths, this gentle non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) cleanser in the pump version easily removes excess oil and even does a nice job in removing make-up as well. And best of all, oily skin is bathed in 2% Salicylic Acid not only to treat any blemishes that currently exist, but also to prevent new ones from occurring by exfoliating the top layer of dead skin away, revealing fresh new skin in the process. Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash lathers well, absorbs quickly and simply gets the job done effectively and without fuss.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~
Each 6 ounce (177ml) clear plastic pump bottle of this Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash may be purchased at most drug, grocery, and discount stores, such as Wal-Mart, for about $4.47 each, or online at www.drugstore.com for a more expensive $5.99. One bottle easily last several months placed at my bathroom sink for daily use. A pump or two is all I need to gently yet thoroughly cleanse the excess dirt, oil, and grime from my face each morning upon arising. The pump feature is very convenient and is much easier to use than those messy bar soaps that are available. Because the packaging is clear with the Neutrogena logo plainly printed across the front, users can easily see how much product is left and can have a spare one ready as backup with no surprises when the cleanser is completely gone. Each bottle of Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash is recyclable as well, so being environmentally friendly is certainly a plus in this day and age.
~~~Directions for Use~~~
Following the short yet sweet directions found on each bottle of this Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash is simple: Cleanse twice a day. Wet face. Apply to hands, add water and work into a lather. Massage face gently, rinse thoroughly. Even though many people with acne prone skin are tempted to scrub their faces several times a day with harsh cleansers thinking this will help control their acne, DON'T DO THIS as this practice often makes symptoms worse and not better! A cycle of increased oil production will result as the skin's natural oils will be stripped away while overdrying and irritation is bound to occur. Instead, gently wash your face 2 to 3 times a day with this effective cleanser to cleanse impurities away and to keep pores clear of clogging debris. Skin is left feeling refreshingly clean and soft, never tight or oily. As a staple pimple fighting treatment, use of this Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash will noticeably improve most mild to moderate cases of acne over time when used on a daily basis.
If you are looking for a moderately priced yet effective cleanser to use when treating oily, acne prone skin, this Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash is a popular and highly recommended choice. Wash that excess grease away instantly while medicating pores with 2% Salicylic Acid to treat and prevent those unsightly blemishes we all wish would disappear forever. While acne prone skin can only be managed and not cured for most of us, breakouts are bound to occur despite diligent skin care.
