| momito2girls's Full Review: My First Swing Set |
We bought the My First Swing Set when our daughters were three and almost one. We lived in an apartment so having a real swing set was out of the question. I was skeptical at first that it would be a good thing to have. After owning it for a year, I realize it was one of the best toys I have ever bought.
The My First Swing is just that a small swing set made of rust resist metal and hard molded plastic. My First Swing Set comes complete with a swing, a slide, and a platform that has a steering wheel and three colorful blocks to play with. The swing is made of molded plastic complete with a safety strap that has two belts that come around the waist to buckle in the middle. It can be easily adjusted to fit your child’s size. It doesn’t swing a great deal, but it gives the swaying motion that most kids love.
The platform connects the stairs and the slide. The stairs also made of molded plastic consist of three rungs, the bottom two are open so that little feet and hands can grab on easily. The top rung is closed, with only a small rounded area for hands and feet. There is a platform between the stairs and the slide. The platform is not all that wide, but it serves the purpose well. There is a molded roof that covers only the platform and a rail to keep little ones from falling off onto the
swing.
The rail is where the steering wheel and colorful blocks with letters are placed. The steering wheel is a great toy, it opens the imagination to be driving something. The blocks on the other hand are more an annoyance then anything else. They can be raised up the pole and dropped to make a loud noise. My girls seem to love that the most. I will have to say they serve an educational purpose as well. There are three blocks and each contains a letter than when set right spell out simple words.
The slide is my kids favorite part. It’s also made of molded plastic with just enough of a hill and dip to make it fun. The platform can be set at two different levels. At the lower level the slide and stairs are easy to climb and slide. At the higher level the slide and stairs are raised just enough that you can actually climb them and really slide. Neither is high off the ground, so if for some reason they were to fall off no real damage is done.
This swing has been a lot of fun to have. Even now at four and two both of my girls still play on it. They throw a blanket over the roof and make it a tent. It’s taken the weather outside and also been a favorite toy in our living room. It doesn’t take up a lot of space so it’s great if you live in an apartment or have a small backyard. Overall it’s been a great investment and stood the test of time and abuse of two very active kids. Thanks for reading.
