Pros: Nice shades
Cons: Not as shiny & shimmery as it claimed to be, doesn't last
The Bottom Line: Looks ok, not as shiny & shimmery as promised, doesn't last at all, probably not worth your money

| baby_pie's Full Review: Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lipcolor |
Yes, my lips were thirsting for diamonds. It had happened again, clever advertising with upbeat music and shiny juicy lips flashing all over the screen....oooh I wanted mine to look like that!
I hesitated a couple of times over buying Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Colour. In the back of my mind I knew it wouldn't be long lasting, it couldn't possibly be. But on the third time I found myself at the Maybelline display I thought I'd give it a try. There were some really tempting shades and there they were again, the juicy, glossy lips pouting at me from the display, daring me to feed my lips diamonds! I chose the shade "pink carats" as it didn't seem too pink on my hand and appeared shimmery.
The packaging is the standard lipstick sized pink tube. There's a silver diamond stuck to the tube and the colour is on a sticker on the bottom of the tube.
It comes in the following shades:
Pink Carats
Gems 'n Roses
Glowing Glimmer
Pink Diamonds
Plum Solitaire
Mauvey Rock
Spoiled In Rubies
Jewels 'n Berries
Gem Crushed Merlot
Sparkling Sand
Brilliant Bronze
Tawny Twinkle
Beaming Berry
Plum Sparkle
Cocoa Glow
Honeymoon Heather
Luminous Lilac
Marquise Peach
Pink Topaz
Blushing Diamonds
Rhinestone Pink
Ruby Desire
Solitaire Sandstone
Twinkle Pink
My first application I loved it. It wasn't quite as shiny and shimmery as I'd come to believe it would be. Rather it was more like a frost with a glittery shine I could make out if I proportioned my lips in the mirror so the sun was shining directly on them! Hmmmm...
I didn't hate the look, the colour was gorgeous and the shine factor was acceptable, so I went off to work. In the 20 minutes it took to drive there I checked myself in the mirror and found there was no longer the semi-glittery shine, but just a frosty looking pink. Again, I didn't hate the look, frost lipstick suits me and the shade still looked flattering without the shine, but that wasn't the point. I already had frost lipsticks. I'd purchased Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds for the supposed diamond shine, and dambit I wanted some shine!
The texture isn't great, but isn't bad either. I felt a slight grainy feel because I kept applying all day, and when I rubbed my lips together it felt oily and greasy rather than moisturising.
Overall I was disappointed with this lipstick. Though I should have known better as "glossy shiny" lipsticks never tend to last very long.
