I have used Pepto for years. I remember my mother giving it to me for tummy upsets as a kid. it worked then and it works now. This stuff is nothing short of a miracle in my opinion.
As a teenager i struggled with Bulimia. Now more than 10 years later I am happy and healthy, but still suffer from the damage I did to my stomach. Indigestion, heartburn and random stomach pains are practically a daily occurrence for me. I turn to Pepto to take this all away.
Pepto is indicated for indigestion, heartburn, nausea, and diarrhea. It works great for all of these stomach ailments, including things that are not listed such as gas. Pepto's active ingredient is bismuth subsalicylate. This think pink liquid acts as a coating to soothe the stomach lining. It is fast in that you will feel relief in minutes.In a day and age where e want results yesterday, this should be the type of product we all look for.
You can take Pepto anytime and with anything. I do not believe there are any interactions, however always check with your doctor if you are on prescription medication. I have never experienced any side effects from this product either. Since it's coating action is what brings the fast relief, I would not suggest following a dose of this with a big glass of water or any other food or beverage for a while (even though it says you can, I have found it to be more effective if you don't) This is too bad because this stuff tastes pretty gross and a chaser would be nice. It tastes like liquid chalk with a feeble attempt at some kind of cherry flavoring. Usually is something tastes bad, I won't take it. However this product works so well I over look the taste. I have tried other products which are usually come in chewable tablets (Tums, Rolaids, Maloxx) and do not find these to be as effective. They usually take about 30 minutes to work, and do not provide complete relief.
Let me tell you a Pepto success story. Last year I went on a blind date in NYC. I met this friend of a friend at a restaurant. We ate, drank, talked and had a great time. By the time we got to our next destination (another bar) I was almost doubled over in pain. I told my date I needed to hit am ATM machine. He balked and insisted I didn't need any money and he had it covered. I know!! when you want a gentleman there are none to be found, but when you need an excuse to run across the street to the mini market to get pepto, there he is. I insisted that being a woman of the new millenium, I wanted to buy him a drink. I ran across the street and purchased a mini bottle of Pepto. I chugged half the bottle and was feeling better by the time I got back across the street to the bar. So my date didn't have to end prematurely because of my sour stomach thanks to Pepto. The relationship ended prematurely however when I discovered this "gentleman" had a girlfriend. OH WELL!! I keep Pepto within reach for every occasion.
I have tried the chewable tablets, but like other chewables, do not find them to be that effective. They work better than most chewables, but they take too long to work. I keep them in my purse for emergencies. In conclusion, Pepto is nothing short of a miracle solution for tummy upset. It has made my life more comfortable, and has saved my social life on more than one occasion! At 3 bucks a bottle who can beat that??
