A few weeks after Christmas a good friend of mine sent my daughter a package. You see this friend of mine had heard how much my daughter was enjoying her new Bratz dolls and wondered if she had the Spring Fashion Bratz Jade. She did not. Santa was kind enough (wink) to bring my daughter the Bratz dolls Sasha and Cloe and she had been enjoying them immensely from the moment she got her hands on them. As I wrote in another Bratz related review, my daughter has even slept with her Bratz doll of choice. Let me just say that I was just as excited as my daughter was when this package arrived because I knew just how much she was going to enjoy her new friend for her Bratz collection, the Spring Fashion Bratz Jade.
~ Gee, does this Jade have shiny pants! ~
When you look at any Bratz doll box I swear that one word that comes to my mind immediately is Diva. Attitude is a close second! You know that style is a big part of the Bratz girls when it states right on the backside of the box “Best Friends Never Looked This Good!” But wait! On the front of the box you will see “The girls with a passion for fashion!” Yes, Jade, along with her friends are, I swear, true Diva’s. If by reading those statements alone on the front and backside of the box don’t make you agree, then just wait until you glance inside the box and check out their sense of style!
You also get a good feeling for Spring Fashion Bratz Jade when you read her little blurb on the back of her box. “Hey! My name is Jade! My friends call me Kool Kat!” I told you that attitude was a close second!
Just like a Barbie, it will take you a few minutes to spring Jade from her box. When you finally do, you will find that Spring Fashion Bratz Jade stands in at nearly 9 ½ inches on, with her platform shoes on. She has beautiful long dark brown hair that features bangs in the front. Currently my daughter has chosen to pull the rest of her pulled back into a ponytail. (With the exception of a few longer pieces left out in front. She has to have a styling hairstyle you know!) As with all Bratz dolls, Jade has an usually large head. Her head almost matches the size of her feet! When my mother first glanced at Jade she couldn’t help but laugh at her big eyes, big lips and yes, those big feet. My mother was almost to the point of poking serious fun at this doll but stopped quickly when my daughter gave her quite a disapproving look.
You may have already heard how a Bratz doll is different in not only looks from a Barbie doll. It is her feet. Or should I say, lack of feet. Yes, Jade along with her other Bratz friends have peg feet. There are no cute little toes to look out. You simply have a small round peg foot. Never fear, Jade and friends always have a great selection of snap on shoes to wear. And so far, I have found that these shoes are usually very easy to snap on/off and stay on. I had my doubts in the beginning, but … they have been put to rest.
Spring Fashion Bratz Jade features a slender figure. Mind you, the one thing that you may notice the most if you are very familiar with Barbie’s, that Jade does not boast a large chest. Either do the other two Bratz dolls that my daughter has. Jade does come with a pretty small waistline (Of course!). Like Barbie, this Bratz doll has legs that can bend at the knee. Her arms are connected to a socket in the shoulder and they have the mobility to move in a complete circle, but … do not move at the elbow. This hasn’t proven to be a problem when trying to dress Jade because you are able to move her shoulders back enough to allow getting a tight fitting jacket on. Jade is also able to carry a purse on her shoulder with great ease. Hey! She is a Diva, remember?
What outfit came on Jade?
~ top ~ This pale teal green short sleeve top is made out of silky material that has a velcro enclosure on the entire backside. On the front of this shirt is a small British flag. Below this flag is little decorative tie string. And yes, her belly button is revealed!
~ pants ~ Remember above when I mentioned that Jade came with shiny pants? Trust me, these bell-bottom pants are silver and shiny. And when I say bell-bottom, trust me … they are a wide bell-bottom pant. They have black etching on the sides and even a little bit of a design etching on the front side, along with two metal studs. They are very Diva-like, trust me. They have a small velcro enclosure on the backside. You may have to help your child, depending upon age, when placing these pants on/off as they are a bit more difficult to do than the tops or skirts that come with her.
~ tennis shoes ~ A pale teal green to match her top, Jade comes completely with her platform tennis shoes. They even make it appear that she is wearing low rider white socks as well.
~ So, what else comes with this Spring Fashion Bratz Jade doll? ~
One of the beautiful things, I think, with a Bratz doll is that they come with not one, but two outfits. The Spring Fashion Bratz Jade is no different. This allows you to do a quick clothes change even if you have not purchased separate clothing items. This would include shoes as well. Trust me, you will have plenty of opportunities to purchase other clothing and shoe choices for this Bratz doll if you so desire.
So what else comes with Jade?
~ shirt ~ This sleeveless shirt is like most Bratz shirts that I have encountered that do not cover the midriff. (Perhaps I am just jealous?) This shirt is very easy to place on/off as the whole backside has a velcro enclosure. I have been trying to decide how to best describe the design in this shirt. It has a base color of purple with wild designs of green and blue throughout.
~ leggings ~ Also included were what my daughter likes to refer to as Jade’s tights. Mind you, they are two separate pieces of purple fabric (To match her top.) that have a hole at either end. It is very obvious which hole you want to begin with when inserting a leg. These leggings are a bit more difficult to place on/off Jade so my daughter usually reverts to using them in Jade’s hair to tie up a ponytail. Very clever indeed!
~ skirt ~ This tiny charcoal colored skirt is a mini. It is easy enough for my daughter to place on/off by herself with the easy velco enclosure on the backside. While all the etching on this skirt matches the color of the skirt, there is a bit of sheen to this skirt that gives it a bit of style.
~ belt ~ While I believe that this belt was originally tacked onto Jade’s skirt, we now consider it a separate fashion item. This thin strip of white shiny fabric has a velco enclosure and four silver medal (round) studs on it for style.
~ silver boots ~ Come on! Everyone needs a pair of clunky silver boots with black heels, right? While I would never be caught wearing a pair of boots like this I must say that they do seem to fit Jade quite nicely. While most of the etchings on these boots are silver, there is a black strap on the front of the boot for some added design, which matches nicely to the black clunky heel.
~ hairbrush ~ Yes! Just like Barbie, Jade comes with her won hot pink hairbrush.
~ poster ~ Enclosed you will also find a poster of Jade. I must say that I do like the size of this poster as it is small enough (Approximately 17” in height and 11” in width.) that it fits nicely on the backside of my daughter’s bedroom door. This also allows her other Bratz posters to hand on the backside of the door as well.
~ A big thumbs up for the playtime factor! ~
While I guess that I was partial to the new My Scene Barbie’s, I have to say that I do give this Spring Fashion Bratz Jade a big thumbs up. I wasn’t sure how much my daughter would really play with this Bratz doll and her two others since she has a playroom chopped full of Barbie dolls. You know what? She loves her Bratz dolls and plays with them quite often. One of the things that she has mentioned is the size of the Bratz dolls. She likes that they are a bit smaller than her Barbie dolls. Jade has also held up amazing well, especially her hair, because she is often tossed and turned at night when sleeping with my daughter.
While I originally thought that the face on Jade and other Bratz dolls were a little bizarre because of its large size and those large full lips and squinty eyes, my daughter thinks that they are great. And you know what she told me the other day when her Bratz dolls came with for the ride to swim practice is that her favorite Bratz of all was this Spring Fashion Bratz Jade. I think that I need to send another note of thanks to my friend for sending my munchkin a doll that she enjoys so much!
