There are many toy shopping carts for children, but not many of them are quite as stable and sturdy as the Little Tikes Shopping Cart.
I checked out a number of toy shopping carts for my young daughter who loves pretend play. I originally thought that a shopping cart was a shopping cart. I grabbed the cheapest one I could find and headed to the cash register. While waiting in line, I noticed that the shopping cart I had chosen was very flimsy and twisted quite easily. Back to the toy section. I didn't want a metal shopping cart because of worries about possible sharp edges and rusting, but I was having a tough time finding a sturdy plastic shopping cart. That was when I decided to pay a little more and check out the one by Little Tikes.
You really do get what you pay for! This is a very sturdy plastic shopping cart with a yellow base and handle, red basket, white seat for a doll or grocery items, and blue and white wheels. Assembled, the shopping cart is 16-1/2" x 12-1/2" x 23". It weighs about five pounds and is rated for children ages 2 and up.
The only drawback is the assembly. Assembly requires both a hammer and screwdriver. It can be a little bit of a pain screwing the bottom part of the basket (it comes in a top and bottom piece) to the yellow base/handle. They don't give you a lot of room for using the screwdriver. Also, holding the basket bottom in place while screwing in the screws can be tricky without an extra set of hands. Once you get the bottom part of the basket attached, though, the rest of the assembly is a breeze. Little Tikes even includes caps to go over the screw heads to protect your child from scrapes.
This is a great choice if you're looking for a shopping cart for a little one!
