Pros: Very faithful representation of the Star Destroyer, some nice details added.
Cons: Without context, it's kind of boring to look at...
The Bottom Line: Star Wars fans who happen to be lego fans have no reason not to own all the Star Wars lego mini sets.

Full Review:
I have to apologize for the delay on my Lego Mini Series III Reviews. I had gotten series 1 and 2 right away, and got my reviews up on them. And while I got one of the series III sets (This one) shortly after its release in mid 2004, I havent had a chance to build it and review it until now. Similarly, I only have acquired the first of the four sets, though I plan on remedying that situation very soon.
Star Wars Lego Minis are the great, low cost lego sets that allow fans of Star Wars and Legos, especially those without a ton of room or money (or time!) to build some great models and have some cool looking Star Wars toys hanging nearby. The first series was phenomenal, the 2nd series was still very good, and I eagerly awaited series number III.
The first set of the series is the Imperial Star Destroyer. These are the large, grey, triangular ships seen at various points throughout the series in space. Perhaps finding some middle ground between series I and II, Lego seemed to merge some of the features of them. They reduced the cost, reduced the pieces, and kept the sets to one model.
Minis Series I Minis Series II Minis Series III
Price: $3.99 $8.99 $6.99
Ships: 2 1 1
Pieces: 60-80 80-100 60-80
While I think these sets should be priced cheaper, the move from $9 to $7 I think is a step in the right direction. The number of pieces is good, and I dont mind 1 ship per model. Really, I think the ideal pricing would be about $5 per ship at 60-80 pieces. In case you Lego execs read this. The other sets in series III are the Sith Infiltrator (Darth Mauls ship from Episode I), the Shuttle (The ship the Emperor lands in, and that the rebels land on Endor in), and the AT-TE The large tank like vehicles from Episode II used by the clones.
On to this particular model. Relatively easy to put together due to the use of several large wing type pieces, the Star Destroyer really does look fantastic. Again, the attention to detail is exceptional. The Shield Generator domes are replicated, gun placements on the side of the ship are replicated, and even engine glow from the rear of the ship is added. It is sturdy, elegantly shaped, and it rests on a shelf very well, while bearing a great resemblance to the ship it is a model of. It was quick and easy to build at about 10 minutes, and durably built.
The downsides to the model are really the downsides of the ship itself. Really, its a large grey triangle. Theres not much one can add to that, but for newer Star Wars fans used to more color added to the starships, it could look a bit bland and to the eye, it is a bit bland. However, for Star Wars fans, this is exactly what the ships looked like, so it wont strike us as being wrong in any capacity. On a simply toy standpoint, large, grey triangular space ships just arent all that exciting to look at.
What I liked :
Faithful representation of a Star Destroyer.
A couple real nice details added.
What I didn't like :
Large gray triangular ships
by themselves look a tad bland.
Overall :
Fans of the original Star Wars series are going to love this. The Star Destroyer is one of the coolest ships from the Star Wars universe, and the emotion and memories tied to them are fun for geeks of all ages. This Star Wars lego mini model captures that perfectly. Star Wars Lego Minis have consistently delivered quality and value, and this set is no exception.
